On a bull streak! At 4 this morning 2218 had E2605, a 90 lb bull calf. After a while with mama he got warmed and dried in the calf warmer since it was yucky weather out. He and mama spent a few hours in the shelter til they were put back out with the herd this morning in the beautiful sun!

The first calf of the year is here!
2601 is a 72 lb heifer from 2101.
The kids and I were on our way back from Houghton when Ryan said she was in labor and in the shelter, so the kids watched "cow vision" all the way home (the barn camera). We lost service just before she was born, but they enjoyed watching her first wobbly steps and tumbles.
Mama did a good job cleaning her up but we gave her a little time in the calf warmer to make sure she was dry and warm before this chilly night. Its in the single digits now.
Hoping for a few more in the little bit warmer temps the next couple of days...

It's been a while!
We are making our way through this snowy cold winter.
We just drew blood on the remainder of our fall calving herd today to see who is bred, and are preparing for our spring calving herd to start calving anytime in the next couple of weeks.
The days are getting longer and little by little we are seeing more sun.
