Remi Wells

What will get me to edit a photo for Facebook?

1. Awesome Horse full of muscle tone and great facial expressions ✅

2. Be a hand with a rope ✅

3. A top contender for the ALL AROUND ✅

I LOVE the girls events. My 7 year old son was watching me edit this photo and his exact words are like mine………
”Dad, look at those muscles on its back legs!” Their horses are athletic and so are these ladies. The spinning around the poles and barrels with sand flying then their roping skills. These girls can hang. There are a bunch a good ropers.
I would love to see a girls vs boys in goat tying for fun.
Let’s settle this on athletics! What do you think?

Remi and Woodrow 💪🏻
This team is one of our favorites for two reasons. Woodrow is raised and trained, we love watching his runs. Remi has been going to our clinic for years and years. She has grown into a great roper but an even better cowgirl!

In 1980, Paul Tierney stepped into a season that would change the balance of power in ProRodeo.
For six years, Tom Ferguson had owned the all-around crown. Then Tierney showed up, put together a relentless run across events, and ended the streak, becoming just the second cowboy in history to break the $100,000 mark in a single season. And he didn’t do it in just one event.
Wearing his trademark black-framed glasses, Tierney was a force in multiple events—second in tie-down roping, fourth in steer wrestling, and dominant enough across the board to stack up $105,568 in earnings. It wasn’t a fluke. It was the result of years spent chasing the very top. He’d been there before.
Twice a reserve all-around champion (1977 and 1979), both times finishing just behind Ferguson, Tierney lived in that narrow space between great and champion—until 1980 pushed him over the edge. Even beyond that peak, he remained a fixture among the elite, finishing fourth in the all-around in 1981 in a field stacked with names like Jimmie Cooper, Roy Cooper, and Ferguson. His consistency told the real story.
Seven times he landed in the Top 10 all-around standings. He qualified for the National Finals Rodeo nine times in tie-down roping and five times in steer wrestling—proof that versatility wasn’t just part of his game, it was his game.
Long before the spotlight, Tierney was building that foundation in college, competing in six events while earning an agricultural business degree in Rapid City, South Dakota, and collecting 10 regional titles along the way.
His career eventually slowed in the late 1980s after a ruptured disc—but by then, the mark had been made.
Tierney wasn’t just another contender in a golden era—
He was the one who broke through it.
