Calling all horse owners and lovers in the Orange area! 🐴✨
Therapeutic Adventure Camp of Orange (TACO) is gearing up for our summer camp, June 16–19, and we are on the hunt for one more "Gentle Hero" to join our team.
Our camp provides life-changing experiences for children with special needs, and the right horse is the heart of that mission. Because our riders have a variety of physical and sensory needs, a therapy horse requires a very special "job description."
What makes a great therapeutic horse?
• Temperament first: We need a horse that is unflappable—calm with loud noises, sudden movements, and toys (like bubbles or balls) being used nearby.
• A "Patient Soul": They should enjoy being groomed and hugged by many different people and be comfortable with "sidewalkers" walking close to their sides.
• Sound & Steady: We are looking for a horse that is "serviceably sound" with a smooth, rhythmic walk and trot to help our riders with balance and coordination.
• Rockstar Manners: No biting, kicking, or pushy behavior. Just a kind, willing partner who loves their job!
If you have (or know of) a horse that fits this description and would like to lend them to us for the week of June 16–19, please reach out.
You aren’t just providing a horse; you’re providing a breakthrough for a child.
