Wild game season is here!

Orange Custom Game Processing is open and accepting wild game for the season.

Our processing prices are staying the same as last year.

We do fill up quickly, especially during busy weekends, so it’s always best to call ahead before making the trip. We’ll let you know our current cooler availability and whether we can take your animal.

A reminder: We do not accept animals that were not recovered until the following morning, or animals that have been eaten on or damaged by scavengers. This is for food safety and quality reasons.

Central Vermont Meats and Orange Custom Game Processing in Orange, VT are growing and looking for dependable people to join our team.

NO MEAT CUTTING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED — WE WILL TRAIN THE RIGHT PEOPLE.

We have opportunities in:

🥩 Meat Processing / Butcher Apprentice
• Cutting and packaging beef, pork and wild game
• Grinding, sausage making and further processing
• Wrapping, labeling and order preparation
• Cleaning and sanitation
• Learn a skilled trade with hands-on training

🛒 Retail Meat Shop
• Customer service
• Stocking and maintaining the meat and seafood cases
• Packaging, weighing and labeling products
• Taking orders and helping with day-to-day shop operations
• Opportunity to grow into additional responsibility

🔪 Processing / Utility
• Packaging and wrapping
• Grinding and production
• Cleaning and sanitation
• General help wherever needed in the processing facility and shop

Pay: approximately $18–$25/hour depending on position, experience and ability.

Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

Experience in meat cutting, food production, farming, kitchens, construction, manufacturing or other hands-on work is helpful, but not required.

What matters most to us is that you:

• Show up for your scheduled shifts and are on time
• Have reliable transportation to Orange, Vermont
• Are willing to work and learn
• Can work safely around knives and equipment
• Are comfortable working in a refrigerated environment
• Can perform physical work and regularly lift 50 lbs
• Take pride in doing a job correctly

We are willing to teach someone who wants to learn. Meat processing is a skilled trade, and there is an opportunity here for the right person to learn everything from breaking down whole animals to retail meat cutting and value-added production.

⚠️ BEAR PROCESSING UPDATE ⚠️

Orange Custom Game Processing is currently FULL and unable to accept any additional bears at this time.

We are working through the animals we currently have and are hoping to have room available again by next weekend.

Please do not bring a bear to the shop without checking with us first. We’ll post another update as soon as we are able to start accepting bears again.

VERMONT BLACK BEAR SEASON IS OPEN!

Today is opening day of Vermont’s black bear season, and Orange Custom Game Processing is accepting bears for processing!

Successful this season? Bring your bear to us for professional processing and get the most out of your harvest.

We offer custom cutting and packaging, with plenty of options to turn your bear into quality meat for the freezer.

Attention Hunters!

If you have venison or other wild game in your freezer that you've been meaning to bring in, now is the time!

To prepare for the upcoming hunting seasons, Orange Custom Game Processing will be pausing production of the following products from September 1 through January 15:

• Snack Sticks
• Summer Sausage
• Bologna
• Hot Dogs
• Kielbasa
• Jerky

If you'd like any of these products made from your game, please bring your meat in before September 1.

During the fall hunting season, our focus shifts to processing the large volume of incoming deer and other wild game as quickly as possible. This seasonal pause helps us provide faster turnaround for everyone.
