Members of the Cobra Club Orange County were invited to attend and display their cars at the Eli Home Legacy Event last evening held at the Lido House hotel in Newport Beach. The fund raising dinner event included a display of Iconic Ford Shelby’s, Cobras and GT 40’s as well as Ferrari’s to kick off the special event. In attendance from the club were Bob and Sue Stockwell, Bill Nelson and Rod Bean along with Ashton Stander and Cynthia White from Shelby Legendary Cars/Hillbank Motors. The Eli Home, located in Orange County, provides housing and services to abused children and women and has been supported by the Shelby Children’s Foundation for many years. We were honored to be seated at the event with Scott Black, Tracy Smith, representing the Shelby Children’s Foundation, as well as Master of Ceremonies, Adam Ferrara, the widely known star of movies and the Top Gear TV series. The event hopefully raised much needed funds to continue their efforts to expand the Eli Homes new facilities. It was an honor to be a part of this worthwhile event.

The 2026 Rolex Motorsports Reunion was held last week at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. This racing event is the premiere vintage racing event in the country and the only vintage racing event that you have to be accepted in order to participate. Two members of the COCOA OC were invited and raced. Alan Davison, a very experienced vintage racer, ran his Mark Martin #6 Firebird in the IROC series races and Bob Stockwell with his 1965 Mustang GT350 Fastback in the Ken Miles Trophy races. This is Bob’s 61st year of racing and his 16th year of competing at the Reunion. At the Award Ceremony, Bob received one of the most prestigious awards given at the reunion, The Henry Ford Trophy Award. The trophy was presented to Bob by Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company.

The Henry Ford Trophy is awarded to a driver who exemplifies the competitive spirit of Henry Ford, typically recognizing outstanding performance in a Ford vehicle during the event. Criteria includes the driver's skill, the car's historical significance, and the overall contribution to the spirit of the races.

Today marks 60 years since Ford’s win at the 24 Hours of LeMans in the GT40. We’d like to thank everyone that was involved in making history. We wouldn’t have the cars we have today, without them all!

That being said, who’s excited for Ford to return to the Hypercar Class at LeMans in 2027? 🏁

Day 1 is officially in the books!

Today, we welcomed a great group of enthusiasts at our annual Concours De Nice Gala & Luncheon at the Segerstrom Shelby Event Center in Irvine, CA.

We are very thankful for our 2026 Grand Marshall, Billy Johnnson. Guests had the chance to hear from Billy and ask questions. It truly was an amazing honor to welcome Billy and celebrate his amazing accomplishments.

Along with Billy, we welcomed many original Shelby employees, such as Allen Grant, Bernie Kretzschmar, Bruce Junor, along with a great group of Shelby employees! It’s always an amazing opportunity for our members and guests to have the chance to talk to these individuals and ask all the questions they’ve had for years!

While today was another phenomenal event, we’re looking forward to seeing everyone at our Concours De Nice car show tomorrow morning at the Westin Hotel Park, in Costa Mesa. We’re expecting a great group of Cobras, Shelbys, Ford GTs, and more! We hope you can join us! For more information, visit our website.

Thank you all for a great day, we’re looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!
