So here’s a little story for all of our followers!
As most of you know I(Jason) grew up in the little town/county of Orange and it’s always been my favorite place. Don’t get me wrong, I have absolutely loved Spotsy and raising our little family there but Orange has always been home to me. Specifically the Lahore neighborhood, I grew up here, we have friends here, and most of my family is here.
I’ve been searching for years for some land to call our own, mostly at night while Danna was asleep, I’ve literally looked at a thousand properties online! We almost had our own farm two years ago but admittedly, I was being a little cheap and we lost it!
Fast forward to about nine months ago when I saw a completely innocent post on a fb page that got my wheels turning, there was a chance a piece of property would be selling soon that would be perfect for this little business! So after looking through the tax records and emailing some lawyers and cold calls to a realtor, we found out it would be coming up for sale! I immediately texted the best realtor in the world, Shannon Hudson and we got the ball rolling!
Well here it is today, and we just closed on our own farm! Locals may recognize this little store as Jackson’s Store at Lahore, our dream is to fix it up and serve our community from here once again but they may be a long way off! There’s also a beautiful two room school on the property that I have dreams of making a Grange Hall similar to the one that welcomed us to this neighborhood 35 years ago! Thank you to everyone who has given us positive thoughts and everyone who kept our secret for 9 months!
Don’t you guys worry though, we’ll never leave the Spotsylvania Farmers Market until they kick us out!! Come by this weekend to grab goodies as we’ll be gone the following weekend planning our future!!

This past week has been stressful!
This is the week we got our new calves and to say they’ve been running me ragged is an understatement! In one day our herd nearly doubled and our usual practice is to park these little guys in a corral all day in the shade with water to help them stay calm…but it’s also the same day they left their mothers for the first time.
Early the following morning we got texts and calls that there was a calf headed towards the road and when I arrived, he was in the road! After a short chase and wondering if I’d end up a hood ornament for Mack dump truck, he slipped into a neighboring herd. We also noticed that 2 other little guys were in a field they weren’t supposed to be in but still within our farm, they were calm and quiet so they’re still there today. There seems to be two more calves that quietly disappeared to a neighboring farm that we haven’t quite located yet so OC folks, keep your ears open for us!
This first week has been a doozy for years because these guys have a lot to deal with on day one…no mama, new farm, weird guy talking to them non-stop so I totally understand why they do it and as long as everyone ends up at home, it’s mostly just a fun story I tell you guys at the market. So, here’s to continued growth of our little herd and business and some possible big news in the future, all brought about by you folks who continue to support us! Thank you and if I don’t answer a message from you, it’s cuz I’m asleep in my chair or the UTV!!

What are you guys grilling this weekend? Tonight we’re having some of our grass fed, grass finished, all beef Chorizo sliders! Yum! Make sure you come out to the Spotsylvania Farmers Market to grab a package or two along with any of our other delicious beef or some of our pasture raised eggs! #knowyourfood #pastureraised #sustainablefarming #freerange #grassfedbeef #pasturedeggs #regenerativeagriculture #fxbgva #fxbg #orangecountyva
There’s a whole buncha grass up in here! We’re on our 3rd or 4th time grazing this field and it just keeps coming back, we sure are thankful this land is as productive as it is, that’s also why we operate regeneratively, this place wouldn’t look the same if it were a conventional, continuously grazed farm. We’re sure all of our farmer friends who farm this way would agree…this is the way to do it! #knowyourfarmer #knowyourfood #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming #lifeofagrazier #fxbg #fxbgva #orangecountyva #virginia
I mean, we mostly use the driveway for driving…it’s just sometimes these driveways around the farm are perfect alleyways for moving cows!! Our lead steer will get the herd to trot to new grass, now show me some feedlot cattle that can jog!😂 #knowyourfarmer #knowyourfood #grassfed #grasfedbeef #regenerative #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming #lifeofagrazier #fxbg #fxbgva #orangecountyva #virginia
These guys know a good time when they hear it! This is why I like to put our new calves in with the fatties pretty quick, those fatties know what our fresh grass dinner bell sounds like!(Fyi, it sounds like a 43 year old man imitating Rick Flair!) I love to see the excitement for fresh grass from both young and old! #knowyourfarmer #knowyourfood #grassfedgrassfinished #grassfedbeef #regenerativeagriculture #lifeofagrazier #sustainablefarming #fxbg #fxbgva #orangecountyva #virginia
It’s a salty Sunday y’all! I just filled the mineral feeder up with @newcountryorganics cattle mineral and some #redmondsalt, these few got the first crack at it! #knowyourfarmer #knowyourfood #grassfed #grassfedbeef #grassfinished #sustainablefarming #regenerativeagriculture #fxbg #fxbgva #orangecountyva #virginia
“Birds eye view” of moving one of our chicken coops! We move them every few days to keep the poop from getting to thick in one spot(the floors are wire so the poop goes through to the ground). This feeds our soil but doesn’t over feed it, too much of a good thing can be bad! Also enjoy the chicken butt at the end! #knowyourfarmer #knowyourfood #pasturedeggs #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming #fxbg #fxbgva #orangecountyva #virginia
