Since our blood samples were kept for too long by the Warrenton office two weeks ago before they sent them off to VDACs, we just decided to do a mouth swab this time to get our results back without the blood samples getting old before they are tested. Hopefully we can finally get the results by the end of the week.

We have some fresh Orpington hatching eggs ready to go! There is a high possibility of buff and a small chance of hatching blue! Now that we are hatching out our first batches of eggs, we have a better idea of what to advertise!
We also have light Brahma eggs ready to roll into someone’s incubator!

So flippin tired! And we still get to run errands at 8PM! Uhg! At least 50 roosters added to the freezer in the past twenty four hours.

Looks like we are processing all of our roosters on our own this weekend. Stayed up past midnight doing just under half… and we can’t get anyone who wants to come out today to help, even though we would love to send them off with some chickens. Our freezers are going to be over filled by the time we get finished. Time for more people to start picking up their holiday turkeys! We still have about twenty roosters to go… hopefully in about four hours we can have them all done.

I love having a good open honesty policy, whether it’s with my real job or with my farm job! We are down to one puppy left, miss Bella, who has either drooped some dry skin condition or an allergy to something in the yard. We are worried about finding her a good home, but we’ve been honest with applicants, and it’s possible she might just find her furever home next Saturday! I know what you’re thinking. “Why not take her to the vet!?” We have, a couple of weeks ago. They naturally just figured allergic reaction and gave her a shot of Benadryl. They said it would last 3-4 weeks, but it stopped having any effect over a week ago. We started giving her Benadryl tablets to see if that helps, but I had the thought of dry skin during the week and plan to pick up some oatmeal shampoo to see if that helps. She has completely different fur than we’ve seen on any other Pomskies, and I’m wondering if that could be the issue. It’s also not helpful that our vet is always booked solid for six weeks into the future either, so it’s never easy to get back to the vet in a timely fashion.

Would anyone in the Virginia area be interested in a hatching egg giveaway??? Options would be Orpington or Light Brahma presently. We are so busy lately, it’s hard for us to remember to post them to local pages and we have been stuck with work on Saturdays lately, so it’s also hard for us to even take them off to auction, so we’ve just been eating them since we can’t sell them to hatch after two weeks. Please comment or react to this post so we can have an idea of any interest!

Well, we dropped off blood samples in Warrenton last Tuesday for our birds. Apparently the warrenton office did not get our samples off to Harrisonburg in a timely fashion and our samples turned to crap… so after waiting almost two weeks just to find out our samples were no longer any good, we have to redo the blood tests…. Needless to say, we aren’t too thrilled about it because they are going to bill us twice for something we should’ve only had to do once. 😒 Not to mention I have two girls I’ve been hoping to add to the flock still in quarantine and now they will have to wait at least another week to see if they are keepers or camping in the freezer.

Holy WOW-sauce! My girls decided to lay some show stoppers today!
