I thought this would be an interesting visual to see the general size of the Treasure Valley in comparison to the amount of ground that the Big Grass Fire has burned.
Yesterday, the fire grew 60,000 acres in one day and eclipsed 500,000 acres burned.
The fire is now inching towards the Nevada border and will cover three states.
This fire is going to affect ranchers for generations to come. The rebuild is going to be challenging. The struggles will be more than not.
Regardless of the challenges that the future holds, the ranchers are still out there fighting and protecting their animals and doing their best every single day. Long, tiring, exhausting days.
If you’d like to support the ranchers affected in the aftermath of the fire, donations can be made to:
The Owyhee Cattlemen's Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
Your donation will help ranchers recover from the devastating aftermath of this fire. Funds will be used to assist with expenses such as:
• Fencing materials
• Purchasing hay
• Securing temporary grazing leases until burned pastures
recover
• Possible livestock trucking costs
