Another special thank you to our wonderful couple from yesterday's wedding. While the massive nor'easter that took over the east coast put a damper on some of their activities, and a ceremony under our 200 year old oak tree just wasn't to be, we all made the best of it and took the incredible flowers from our florist, Corrie, and totally transformed our fireplace for a gorgeous indoor ceremony. Not content with stopping there, they also decided to donate their flowers to a local senior living facility so even more can enjoy them. The weather at least repaid their kindness by giving us a break later in the evening so they could get in some photos with their photographers under the ceremony tree. I guess Shakespeare was right. All's well that ends well.

Our florist does an amazing job, but even then after the big day a ton of flowers can be a lot for our couples to contend with. Whenever we can we donate arrangements to senior citizen facilities for the residents to enjoy. Sometimes they even do their own projects with them. A very special "Thank You" to both of our awesome couples this weekend that opted to donate their flowers. We have no doubt they will continue to bring joy to many others.

For all of the tens of thousands of sunsets setting behind the same trees that we have seen over the last 60+ years , they never fail to impress and amaze me. If you look closely you can also see the moon making its appearance in this one. Some things just never get old.

In year two of our project to reclaim our pond, we have cleared out the last bit of undergrowth of various invasive species while still maintaining a substantial riparian zone around the pond to serve as nesting areas and refuge for wildlife. Many Russian Olive and multiflora rose went through the chipper. After we made it to the pond a surprise awaited us. Fourteen years ago, a wedding at Monterre had goldfish bowls with live goldfish as centerpieces. As many people didn't want them, and we didn't want to condemn them to a brief life, we gave them a chance by putting them in our pond. We never knew it until recently but a trip to the water's edge revealed a couple of hundred goldfish thriving and happily swimming in our pond. I guess it worked out best for all!
