Wisconsin Cheese Originals Have Fun. Do Good. Eat Cheese. Jeanne Carpenter of Wisconsin Cheese Originals shares information about artisan cheesemakers and their amazing cheeses.

Jeanne is a cheese geek, but she didn't start out that way. Raised on Velveeta on a family farm in Wisconsin, after graduating from college, she worked six years as a city government reporter, earning nine Idaho Press Club awards. She then transferred to the corporate world, but escaped her cubicle and returned to agriculture, serving as spokesperson for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. Sh

e worked nine years as the communications director for the Dairy Business Innovation Center, a non-profit widely credited for helping reinvigorate the Wisconsin dairy industry in the 2000's. In 2013, she joined the team at Metcalfe's Markets in Madison and today is the specialty cheese buyer, selecting more than 300 cheeses from around the world and working to build relationships and new markets for Wisconsin artisan cheesemakers. She teaches classes and leads tours with her organization, Wisconsin Cheese Originals, and organizes networking and educational events for the Wisconsin Artisan Cheesemaker Guild. You'll find her byline in a variety of regional and national food magazines. Her motto is: Have Fun.

After 10 years of events with Wisconsin Cheese Originals, the time has come for me to sunset the organization and focus on my new baby: Firefly Coffeehouse & Artisan Cheese. I'll be adding a merchandising case with cheese on May 1 and a whole slate of cheese boards with beer & wine pairings.
