One of my honey bees hanging out on a fence post, long enough for me to capture a few great shots. 🥰 The only thing that would have made it perfect is if she were wearing some pollen pants! 😍

I'm just going to say, if one of these bad boys shows up on my little farm and takes out my hives, I'll take that as a sign from above that beekeeping may not be for me after all! Praying they don't decide to venture any closer than they've already been spotted!

My half-year egg count is 2276. Currently 27 hens, 10 of which are over 6 and 7 years old. Currently have a couple broody hens and two post-broody (one of those is finally laying again).

I believe this little one is going to be a hen after all! I reserve the right to be wrong. 😁 Other than black and white neck feathers, she's just too dull everywhere else and the roo had more color by now (9 weeks old). Also, Peter had a larger comb by this time as well.

Still not 100% sure on whether I have another little roo. The first photo is of Peter when he was about 7 weeks or so old last year. The second photo is of Nikki at about 7 weeks old. At first I was hopeful because I wasn't seeing more pointed feathers at the base of his/her neck; he/she keeps her wing feathers in such a way that I can't really see the saddle feathers; I can't really see them on Peter, either. Nikki is a bit duller in the wings/back compared to Peter at the same age. I'm 50/50 on whether I'm hoping for a roo or hen at this point. 😁🐔
