This year is going to be dry, we need to all do our part to conserve: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/14ZAHTis3Yk/
NOTICE REGARDING WATER: (please read)
We experienced record low snow in the mountains. This summer is going to be dry and the water supply will be at an all-time low. It is currently above 80 degrees and your landscape may look like it needs water, but rest assured, the grass will survive. The temperatures are expected to be back to normal next week and some rain is expected. If you need to water trees and shrubs to keep them alive, please feel free to give them the water necessary to keep them alive. Using a 5-6β screwdriver, you can push it down into the soil and see if there is moisture. If the screwdriver is completely dry, consider giving the plant some water.
We have already begun to start filling the tanks and reservoirs with water that is available. Beginning the week of April 15th, from the top down, we will slowly fill the system incrementally. Please ensure all homeowner valves and/or hose bibs connected to irrigation are closed. If you have a new secondary meter installed over the winter, the installation crews closed the CITY valve located in the new box. City crews will work down the system and open the valves in the street and at the meter. Please do not adjust anything in the green box. The pressurized irrigation water will be available for full use on Monday, May 1st. Please wait until May 1st to water grass.
As a reminder, Pleasant Grove utilizes an alternating daily schedule. Odd addresses water Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Even addresses water Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Please no residential watering on Saturday. This summer, depending on temperatures and rain, we will need to adjust our watering schedule. As early as July 1st, we may need to adjust to 2 days per week watering and in some extreme circumstances, we may need to adjust to 1 time per week. With the early warm temperatures, the water is melting and what snowmelt is available is coming early. The early water allows us not to have restrictions right away, but the result will be less water available in the middle of the summer.
This year, please consider NOT using a set timer and turning on your sprinklers manually when you see the need. Smart controllers work well, but they donβt know how much water is available overall.
There will be no change in the way secondary water is billed this year. We will only collect data this summer. For information and FAQs related to the secondary meter project, please visit: https://www.pgpimeters.com/
As stewards of the precious resource, we all have the responsibility of using water wisely. \With a few small adjustments to our watering schedules and habits, we all can make a big difference. There are many ways to conserve and listed below are a few simple ways we can all help.
π¦ Refrain from just setting your sprinkler system at the beginning of the year and using the same frequency and duration for spring, summer, and fall.
π¦ Check your sprinkler system frequently for leaks.
π¦ Adjust sprinkler heads to avoid watering the sidewalk or roadway.
π¦ Avoid watering during the heat of the day. Typically, 10 A.M. to 6 P.M.
π¦ Try turning your sprinkler timer off and just use the manual switch. You would be surprised how your schedule may be over watering your lawn.
π¦ Instead of squirting down your driveway to clear dust and debris, use a push broom or a blower.
π¦ Of course, fixing any leaky plumbing fixture saves water and you, as a consumer, money.
