🌻🌼 Exciting things are happening at Bouldin Family Farm! πŸ¦‹

We are now in Year 2 of our Healthy Soils Grant project.

This year we: 🍊🍊 Applied compost to improve our soil health.
🐝🐝 Planted 2 windbreaks consisting of approximately 400 ft of Pollinator shrubs (53 plants total).
And.... we just picked up 101 plants for our 180'x15' hedgerow!
All of the windbreak and hedgerow plants are California Natives from Floral Native Nursery. These plantings will create habitat for the birds and a Pollinator haven for our bee and butterfly friends.
We are committed to healthy soil, Pollinator support and the best farming practices for our farm!

We took the day off today and did some trail work at Grizzly Flat. We completed our volunteer paperwork at Army Corps of Engineers/Black Butte office yesterday and hit the trails running with our w**d eaters. We love riding our bikes at Black Butte but in the Spring the trails are overtaken by tall grass and cockleburrs. It is sad that these trails are so under used. Hopefully, mountain bikers, hikers and horse riders come back since now we all can see the trail!

We juice our pink lemons then freeze it so we have fresh lemon juice from the farm all year long. No additives, not processed, just pure pink lemon juice!

We did a π‘Ίπ’Žπ’‚π’π’ 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 in 12 oz bottles to sell to our customers. If you missed out on grabbing a bag of our pink lemons, we Juiced it for you!

Perfect for Lemonade πŸ‹
Perfect for adding to your water or hot tea (with our honey of course!)

Pink lemon juice is π‘†π‘šπ‘œπ‘œπ‘‘β„Ž and it makes refreshing lemonade!!

Favorite recipe:
1 cup pink lemon juice
3/4 cup - 1 cup of sugar
5 cups water
In small pan, heat 1 cup water with 3/4-1 cup of sugar. Don't skip this step! Heat until sugar is dissolved. Add this simple syrup to 1 cup of pink lemon juice and 4 cups of water. Wallah! Chill it and enjoy fresh from the farm lemonade!

I love substituting the simple syrup with 3/4 cup of Starthistle honey! Warm up the honey (not in the microwave!) so it mixes easier. Delicious!
