WR Allen, Inc A family owned Blueberry processing plant. We quick freeze Blueberries and sell them Wholesale/Retail.

Our family business was established in 1912 as a canning operation for home grown wild blueberries. In 1976 it became a freezing processor for family, company and independent wild blueberry farmers. The family business, now in its 5th generation, maintains and harvests blueberries on 1,200 acres in mid-coast and downeast Maine. Today, we grow, harvest and process approximately 1.5 million pounds o

f wild Maine blueberries. Packaging is in 10-pound boxes for our retail operation and 30-pound cartons of IQF wild blueberries for our wholesale distribution business. We may be the smallest grower and processor, but we are recognized by both competitors and customers as delivering the highest quality (USDA grade a) frozen wild blueberry to the market. Our primary markets are concentrated in bakeries, jam/jelly makers and food service for our grade a product. A secondary market is with wine and juice makers for our ungraded and juice stock.

Blueberry growers are adapting to a changing landscape. W.R. Allen is no exception, using innovative technology and re-entering the retail market for the first time in decades. Meanwhile, a local land trust is learning how to manage the hundreds of acres of blueberry fields it has acquired.

🫐We are currently all out of 10 pound boxes of frozen blueberries. We have plenty of 30 pound boxes for $80. Please call in advance to double check our availability. Depending of weather and staffing we want to make sure someone is here before you head our way.
