2041 head today. Looks like we’re done with the big spring run. Market is still very strong for front end cattle. Planer calves and yearlings felt cheaper though. We had a good run of Bred Cows today, but no pairs. Bred cow market was good but not crazy like earlier in the spring. Cull cows continue to be in high demand.

3061 head today. Good run of big, fancy calves today. Very few light calves. Quite a few yearlings from 700-950 #. Market was steady on most cattle but smaller bunches were softer towards the end. We had a few nice bunches of bred cows and pairs. Market felt a bit softer on those also. Cull cow and feeder cow market remains very strong.

Overall, still a really good market. Even though we are off our highs, cattle still averaged $2479 a head today. It looks like we’re probably done with the great big runs of calves. We will have a good run of Bred Cows next week. I’m expecting about 250 Bred Cows.
That’s it for this week though. Try to stay cool during this heat wave. Looks like it will cool down by next sale. I hope everyone has a wonderful week and we will see you again here next Thursday.

2927 head today. What a crazy couple weeks. Futures market continues to see-saw up and down. Yesterday down $5. Today up $10. Screwworm in Texas. Drought in most of the West. Hard to predict anything going forward. The only thing I know is that today the market was up. Not a lot of calves today under 550 pounds. We had a really good run of fancy six weight calves and a nice run of yearlings. market was up $5-$15. Very few bred cows or pairs. Cull cows remain very strong and feeder cows continue to bring $10-$40 over cull price.

It will be really interesting to see what happens when the futures market opens tomorrow morning. It could be a crazy day. Next week looks like another good sale. Our overall volume will continue to shrink though as we get farther into the summer. We will have a good run of calves and yearlings again next week. We will have three more sales in June and then we will be closed on July 2.
That’s it for this week. As always, thank you everyone for allowing us to help market your cattle for you. Have a great weekend and we will see you again here next Thursday.

3265 head today. Market was steady with last week in almost all categories. We had a big run of yearlings. Market was $5-$10higher on yearlings. Buyers were also very aggressive on lean bulls. 45 bulls that weighed over 1600 # averaged $2.05. Feeder cows still bringing big premium over cull prices.

Well we are definitely off our highs. Most feeders are bringing $200-$300 a head less than a month ago. Cattle market is still around $500 a head higher than the same week last year.
Looks like another pretty good run next week. Probably not quite as big, but we will have some really fancy strings of calves and some nice yearlings too. that’s it for this week. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy this nice cool weather before it starts to warm up again. We’ll see you here again next Thursday.

4426 head yesterday. Futures were down the limit yesterday. Lots of calves selling up and down California. A few of the normal buyers were off the market dude to lack of trucks and processing backups. On paper it doesn’t look like the market was down very bad. We had some big fancy strings of cattle that pushed the upper end of the market. But most calves were $10-$40 lower. Yearlings were $5-$15 lower.
Pairs and Bred Cows were steady. Butcher cow market was steady to $3 higher.

4-500 # steer $4.50-$5.05. Heifers to $4.70
5-600 # steer $4.00-$4.90. Heifers to $4.20
6-700 # steer $3.60-$4.46. Heifers to $3.80
7-800 # steer $3.35-$4.11. Heifers to $3.46
8-900 # steer $3.00-$3.45. Heifers to $3.34
9-999 # steer $2.75-$3.40. Heifers to $3.18

Bred cows $2200-$3900
Pairs $2500-$4900

High yield cows $1.70-$1.93
Low yield cows $1.30-$1.69
Bulls $1.70-$2.29

Cattle are still historically high, but we are definitely off the highs of the cycle. Paper traders have been trying to push the futures market down for the last four months. They’ve pushed it down five or $10 and then it creeps back. We will have to see what happens over the next week. As I write this, the futures are down another four dollars this morning. Cattle still averaged almost $2400 ahead straight through the sale yesterday. It’s definitely more exciting selling at the high, but this market is still good.
That’s it for this week. If you have any questions about the market, feel free to give me a call. Take care everyone. Have a great weekend and we will see you again here next Thursday.

Here’s some more of the pen lots of pairs selling tomorrow.

05/20/2026

Big sale tomorrow. We will have about 200 pairs and 75 bred cows. Sale will start at 8:30. Pairs will be in ring at 9:30. Around 3000 feeders and 500 cull cows. It’s going to be a full yard. If you have cattle to bring in this week and have not called me about them yet maybe think about bringing them in next week.

3164 head today. Big run of fancy calves from 550 # to 850 #. Very few light calves or yearlings. Market felt softer. Most calves were $5-$10 lower than last week. Overall market is still incredibly strong though. We had a good run of pairs and a decent run of Bred Cows. Most of the Bred Cows were in small bunches though. The pairs sold really well. Cull cows and feeder cows continue to creep higher.

4-500 # steers $4.00-$5.15. Heifers to $5.05
5-600 # steers $4.00-$5.18. Heifers to $4.57
6-700 # steers $3.50-$4.40. Heifers to $4.22
7-800 # steers $3.20-$4.08. Heifers to $3.82
8-900 # steers $3.00-$3.63. Heifers to $3.43
9-999 # steers $3.00-$3.33. Heifers to $3.25

Bred cows $2200-$4300
Pairs $2500-$5100
High yield cows $1.60-$1.92
Low yield cows $1.00-$1.59
Bulls $1.50-$2.24

Next week looks like a really big run of cattle. We should have a couple thousand head of calves and five or 600 yearlings. we will also have 9 or 10 loads of Bred Cows and pairs. The yard should be pretty full. Call me if you are planning on sending loads of cattle in. We always find room, but it sure helps to be able to plan ahead. That’s it for this week everyone. Have a great weekend and we will see you again here next Thursday.
