4 Mistakes That Are Costing You Money On Social Media ⬇️
1. Your location isn’t anywhere on your profile.
Where are you?! If I have to play detective to figure out what city you serve, I’m moving on. Add your city or service area to your bio and profile so local clients can actually find you.
2. Stop hiding behind your logo.
Show your face. Share your story. Let people see the person behind the brand. They want to know who they’re supporting, what you stand for, and why you do what you do. That’s how trust is built.
Yes, it can feel uncomfortable to get in front of the camera. Most of us weren’t born content creators. But connection is one of the biggest advantages small businesses have over large corporations. Big brands spend millions trying to feel personal. You already are. Lean into it. Your personality, your values, and your story are what make your business memorable.
3. Your photos aren’t doing your business justice.
Your visuals are your first impression, so treat them like it. Large brands invest thousands in professional photography because they know great images sell. As a small business, you don’t have to spend a fortune, but you should invest in good lighting, learn basic composition, and use affordable editing apps. There are countless free tutorials that can help you elevate your content.
4. If your page looks like a digital flyer… people will scroll right past it.
No one wants to follow an account that’s nothing but promotions, price lists, and “Book Now” graphics. If every post is selling, it starts to feel like spam.
Think of your social media as a conversation, not a billboard. Mix in behind the scenes, client experiences, tips, your personality, your process, testimonials, and the story behind your business. Give people a reason to follow you beyond your products or services.
