πŸŒ™ Come Walk Through The Market With Me! πŸŒ™

One of my favorite things about doing markets isn't just selling my own productsβ€”it's meeting so many talented people along the way.

Over the past few months, a few vendors have become familiar faces and even friends, and I thought it would be fun to give you a little peek into market life.

So come take a walk through the market with me. 😊

πŸŽ‚ Wish Cake Wednesday... on a Thursday? πŸ˜† πŸŽ‚

Apparently this cake picked the wrong day of the week, but considering it's International Picnic Day, I think a watermelon cake deserves its moment.

One of my favorite things about being a cake artist is finding inspiration in unexpected places. Sometimes it's an elaborate wedding cake. Sometimes it's a technique I want to learn. And sometimes it's a random photo I stumble across while doom scrolling social media that immediately gets saved to my inspiration folder.

This cake was one of those saves. (Inspiration photo credit: Cakes by Melle. Found on Pintrest)

I love how simple it is while still being instantly recognizable. The colors, the chocolate chip "seeds," the candy watermelon slices, and the drip all work together without feeling overdone.

What really caught my attention, though, is that I actually have a watermelon cake flavor. It's not one I get asked for often, but every time I make it, people are surprised by how much they enjoy it.

Would I make it exactly like this? Probably not. Half the fun of inspiration photos is figuring out how to make them your own and adding your own creative spin to the design.

But if someone asked me to make a watermelon-themed cake tomorrow, I'd be pretty excited about it.

So now I have to ask... would you keep the watermelon theme, or is there another fruit that deserves the cake spotlight? πŸ‰πŸ“πŸ‹πŸ

And while we're at it, what was your favorite picnic food growing up?

πŸŒ™ Apparently One Market Wasn't Enough... πŸŒ™

What started as a weather backup plan has somehow turned into a two-market weekend. πŸ˜†

Last Friday's Dixieland Night Market was a success, but with the rain forecast looking questionable beforehand, a make-up date was scheduled just in case. Even though the market went on as planned, the make-up market is still happening.

That means you'll be able to find me at:

I'll be bringing a mix of customer favorites, Farmacy favorites, and whatever else I can fit into the car without needing a second vehicle. 🀣

If you're local and looking for something to do this weekend, come out, support some amazing small businesses, and say hello. I'd love to see some familiar faces!

🀣 I Had A Thought Today...

And as usual, that can be dangerous.

I was thinking about how many talented people I've met over the years through markets, small business events, and even this page, and somehow my brain landed on: "Why don't people barter anymore?"

Don't get me wrong, I like getting paid. πŸ˜† But the idea of trading skills is kind of fun.

Need cookies? Maybe I need a photographer.

Need brownies? Maybe I need help with social media.

Need vanilla? Maybe I need someone to tackle the mountain of laundry currently judging me from across the room.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized I'd actually be open to a trade of services if it was something that benefited both sides. I've met so many talented people over the years that it seems silly not to at least entertain the idea every now and then.

So now I'm curious... if you own a business, what do you do? And if bartering was still common, what would you trade for?

Who knows... maybe we'll accidentally bring it back. 🀣

🎡 Restock Day Soundtrack 🎡

Today is restock day, which means baking, packaging, loading the car, and making at least one trip back inside because I forgot something. πŸ˜†

Every once in a while, a song finds its way into my playlist and refuses to leave. For reasons I can't fully explain, that song lately has been *Viking Vibes* by Ragal Ironbull. If it comes on while I'm baking, planning menus, or restocking my shelf, the volume immediately goes up.

The funny part is that it isn't just this song anymore. I somehow ended up with an entire playlist full of this type of music and I'm not even mad about it. 🀣

If you're into unique music that's a little different from the norm, give it a listen. The beat is absolutely amazing.

Now I'm curious... what's the one songβ€”or entire genreβ€”that has unexpectedly taken over your playlist lately?

πŸ‘€ Coming Soon...

Some products sell really well. Some products become customer favorites. And then there are the products that I make because I absolutely love them.

My love for 7 Layer Bars actually goes all the way back to my Disney days at Yacht & Beach Club. Whenever a batch was made, the edges would get trimmed off to make everything nice and neat. Those scraps were considered "samples," and let me tell you... people would line up for them. Not just our kitchen either. Somehow word would spread and people from other kitchens would magically appear hoping there were a few pieces left. πŸ˜†

Ever since then, they've been one of my favorite desserts.

I only recently added them to the Storybook Delights menu, and honestly, not much has changed. Every time I make a batch, I still find myself sneaking a piece or two before they ever make it into a package. Then I have to hide the rest from my husband before they mysteriously disappear. 🀣

So consider this your warning... a fresh batch is coming soon. And if history repeats itself, I may need to hide a few for myself before they hit the shelf.

Now I have to ask... what do you call them? I've heard them called 7 Layer Bars, Magic Bars, Hello Dolly Bars, and probably a dozen other names over the years. What name did you grow up with?

πŸ”₯ The Results Are In! πŸ”₯

Yesterday I asked what you thought was selling best at my space at The Makers Market & Farmacy.

The funny thing is that there wasn't one product that completely ran away with the lead. The top sellers have all been surprisingly close, which tells me people are trying a little bit of everything.

After the first few weeks, the current favorites are:

πŸ₯‡ Cookies & Cream Cookies

πŸ₯ˆ S'mores Brownies

πŸ₯‰ Poptarts

And honestly? The difference between them was pretty small.

One of the things I've enjoyed most about this adventure is seeing what customers actually gravitate toward. Some products I expected to fly off the shelf have taken a little longer to catch on, while others have become favorites much faster than I expected.

The best part is seeing people come back and tell me what they tried and what they want to see next.

Now I have another question...

What product are you most curious about trying?

πŸͺ Cookies

🍫 Brownies

πŸŽ‚ Dot Cakes

πŸ§‚ Sugars & Salts

🍦 Vanilla Products

πŸ₯“ Candied Bacon Seasoning

πŸ“¦ Does Anyone Else Have an Emotional Support Item? πŸ“¦

I'm convinced every small business owner has one.

Not necessarily something expensive or fancy. Just that one item you absolutely rely on and would be mildly devastated if it disappeared.

For me, it's two Amazon boxes.

And before you judge me, they're the PERFECT size. They fit almost all of my market and Farmacy products, stack nicely, and somehow survive being loaded, unloaded, moved, and reused over and over again.

The best part? It took me FOREVER to find a second identical box. 🀣

This weekend I almost left one behind at The Makers Market & Farmacy and the amount of panic I felt was completely unreasonable. I immediately started thinking about how much product fits in that box, how many markets it's survived, and whether I'd ever find another one if it disappeared.

Thankfully, the box made it home safely.

The bad news is I may now be emotionally attached to cardboard.

Please tell me I'm not the only one. What's your emotional support item?

A favorite spatula? A market wagon? A label maker? That one pen that writes perfectly? πŸ‘€

πŸ”₯ Apparently I Was Wrong... πŸ”₯

When I started stocking my space at The Makers Market & Farmacy, I had all kinds of predictions about what would sell first.

Some of them were right.

Some of them were very, very wrong. πŸ˜†

One of the things I've enjoyed most about this adventure is watching what people actually gravitate toward. Sometimes it's exactly what I expected. Other times it's the item I almost talked myself out of making.

After the first couple weeks, there are already a few clear favorites, and honestly, one or two of them surprised me.

So before I tell you...

What do YOU think sold out first?

πŸͺ Cookies?

🍫 Brownies?

πŸŽ‚ Dot Cakes?

πŸ§‚ Sugars and salts?

🍦 Vanilla products?

Take your best guess below and I'll reveal the answers tomorrow. πŸ‘€

πŸ‘€ Let's Play Product Developer for a Minute...

One of my favorite things about having my space at The Makers Market & Farmacy is being able to test new ideas and see what all of you get excited about.

So I have a question...

If you could add ONE product to my shelf, what would it be?

More dip mixes?

More seasonings?

Cookie flavors?

Specialty sugars?

Holiday treats?

Something completely different?

No promises that every suggestion will make it to the shelf, but I can promise I'll be reading every comment and adding ideas to my ever-growing notebook. πŸ˜†

Who knows... your suggestion might end up becoming a future Storybook Delights product.

So let's hear it!

What should I make next? πŸ‘‡

πŸ₯“ If You've Been Around Long Enough, This Probably Won't Surprise You... πŸ₯“

If you've been following Storybook Delights for a while, you know I have a slight obsession with candied bacon.

And honestly?

I regret nothing. πŸ˜†

Between breakfast boxes, brunch treats, and all the times I've found a way to sneak bacon into a menu, it was probably only a matter of time before it found its way onto my shelf at The Makers Market & Farmacy.

So this week, Candied Bacon Seasoning is officially joining the lineup!

Sweet, savory, a little smoky, and surprisingly versatile.

I've had customers use it as a glaze on holiday hams, as a rub on pork chops before grilling, and even sprinkled over cream cheese for an easy appetizer.

Other favorite uses include:

πŸ₯” Potatoes

🍿 Popcorn

πŸ” Burgers

πŸ₯š Eggs

πŸ₯¨ Pretzels

πŸ§€ Cream cheese

Or honestly... anything that could use a little extra flavor.

One of my favorite things about having my space at The Makers Market & Farmacy is being able to create products that are a little different and see what everyone thinks.

So now I have to ask...

What would YOU put candied bacon seasoning on first?

Because knowing this group, some of you are about to give me ideas I never would have thought of. πŸ˜†
