Question for you guysā€”

This isnā€™t about me, but Iā€™m curious what others would do in this situation.

You list birds for sale. Someone contacts you, shows you their setup, tells you where the birds are going, and comes to pick them up. Later, you find out they actually purchased the birds for someone elseā€”someone they knew you would not sell to. (Posted on their Farm PagešŸ˜)

Would you be upset?

Would you consider that dishonest or unethical on the buyerā€™s part?

Would you try to get the birds back, or once money changes hands is it simply a loss and a lesson learned?

Iā€™m interested in hearing both breeder and buyer perspectives. Please keep it respectful.

Heat Stress in Poultry ā€“ Know the Signs!

With hot weather here, keep an eye on your birds. Signs of heat distress include:

-Panting or open-mouth breathing
-Holding wings away from the body
-Lethargy or decreased activity
-Reduced appetite

Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water, shade, and good ventilation. Heat stress can become an emergency quickly, so donā€™t ignore the warning signs

Thankful Thursday

This week has definitely been eventful, but today we welcomed a very special new addition to PearRibbonSilkiesā€¦ LAVENDER MOTTLED! You read that right ā€” Lavender Mottled.

I reached out to my awesome friend Sheryle at Three Chicks Silkies because I knew she had this incredible boy that she created. She graciously agreed to send him my way, and he arrived TODAY! Despite an unexpected travel adventure, he stepped out of the box looking fantastic.

Iā€™m incredibly excited about this new project and the possibilities it brings. I can hardly wait to share the journey with you ALL.

Thank you, Sheryle! Your friendship, support, and trust mean a lot.

I also want to give a huge thank you to my Wisconsin post office friends. This handsome guy spent two extra days in transit after taking a wrong flight, and my good friend Vania from Flowers and Feathers came to the rescue. She went to the distribution center this morning and picked him up for me while he was still about two hours away. I hadnā€™t realized tomorrow was a holiday, which would have meant waiting until Saturday to get him if Vania hadnā€™t stepped in.

Iā€™m truly grateful for good friends who go above and beyond and for the USPS employees who helped make sure he arrived safely.

Today is a reminder that this hobby isnā€™t just about the birdsā€”itā€™s about the friendships, kindness, and community that come with them.
