Thanks to all who came out this evening for the field day at Wilson Angus sponsored by the Orange County Cattlemen, who grilled the steaks, and the Soil and Water Conservation District, who provided the tent, tables and chairs. It was a good evening of fellowship and an opportunity to share the Environmental Quality Incentive Program project we did with SWCD of a rotational grazing system and a watering system on a heavy use pad. We had great attendance, and it’s always fun to share ideas with fellow cattle producers. Thanks to Premier Companies and Nutrien for providing grass seed for door prize drawings.

We’re home from the Certified Angus Beef annual conference in Las Vegas! It’s always great to see friends and make new ones, but the connections made with so many in the beef business and the lessons learned from others in the industry are incredibly valuable. Producers, packers, processors, distributors, retailers, restaurants, chefs and others in the chain from pasture to plate were in attendance and they are all cheerleaders for this brand. This event gives us a chance to see daughter #2 at work, the cooking demo and hands-on cooking was fun with Chefs Michael and Ashley (whoever thought of putting beef in biscuits!) and we were eating incredible beef dishes every time we turned around!! Everyone cleaned up pretty nicely for the awards night event. We also got in a tour of Hoover Dam. A good time was had by all.
