No greater reward than being their person and the place they land when they rest🧡🦊🥹

As a fox owner, you have to understand them. My posts have blown up in the last few days. So many people have commented saying “I want one” or “I’ll take one” without bothering to look up a single piece of info on these guys. These are not dogs, they aren’t cats. They are red foxes. It’s my job as a breeder and an owner, to make sure these babies are placed properly. With that being said, about 95% of the people who inquired were in illegal states or extremely uneducated. Which leads me to the point of “you have to understand them”. The photos I post are mere glimpses of what a fox is like. These videos and photos are what I thought are cute and what I’ve decided to share with you. However, the actuality is, not everything is cute and they rarely sit down for attention or affection. Foxes are naturally very energetic, very high strung, very go go go, and very independent. They want to explore, play with toys, get into trouble, find all kinds of things called “treasures” and guard them with their lives, p**p on things they claim as theirs, etc.

I want to stress the fact that while my photos are cute and I ADORE THESE CREATURES, they are not for everyone and they are not something you do on whim. These guys live 8-15 years on average in captivity.

My website has so much info on them, I’ve put it out there to educate anyone even remotely thinking about a red fox. Lostriverexotics.com is the place you can go more in depth on care and what their day or day life is like. Outdoor enclosures, enrichment, things to do, etc are non-negotiable.

I will continue sharing all their adorable photos and videos with everyone because they bring a smile to my face and make me laugh—-I hope they do the same for all of you, but please investigate a little more if you were serious about a baby and do ample research! Not just on red foxes, but any animal you think is cute and want to add to your family.

Social media makes it easy to share the good moments and the cute, but it’s only small snapshots of what WE have chosen to show. Don’t forget that.

Always destroying something, getting into something, or finding treasures, but then there’s a split second of laying down and just observing. And I mean SPLIT SECOND. That is a fox. These boys balance each other well 😂

As a side note, as someone with an attention span about like theirs, we get along great 😅
