Action-in-Relationship

Ascending Gardens Farm is a small informal place—a diverse work-in-process as we continuously expand our capabilities as a food producing resource and learning center for small community homesteading-self-sustaining living. We provide a center for people to learn the way toward developing a true sense of being at home with life and all it has to offer. This requires a love

of each other, nature, the land, the earth, animals, interest in food production-harvesting-preserving-and preparation, an enthusiastic, cooperative-curious attitude, and the willingness and strength to do the work necessary for this to occur. We see this as a constantly changing small group of individuals working with us, the Ascending Gardens property, and our animal community; where they are experiencing and learning for different periods of time (determined by mutual agreement), then heading off to create their own place, or whatever comes next for them. We provide the place, the raw material resources, and a source of information. Residents, in turn, study and contribute their hard-working abilities, expertise and knowledge, to all. These may be volunteers in driving distance of the Garden, or may be residents in some sort of help exchange agreement (room and board for use of resources and educational materials, opportunities to learn, perhaps even insights into one’s life purpose,) for varying periods of time. We are working toward producing sufficient food and sources of income to support these enterprises; and all members will be joining us with their creative input, and physical enthusiasm toward these goals. Special projects of interest, which contribute to the property, are encouraged. We have: Guardian dogs (3); horse (1); goats: Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats (10), not yet milked, Cashmere Goats (6); Sheep (1); Rabbits (many), Chickens (many); Llamas (2); Alpacas (2); Cats (4, 1 indoor-outdoor Manx, others free spirits {all neutered}); Honey Bees (a few hives); adding Muscovy Ducks (3). On the property are gardens, several; greenhouses in process; fruit trees, many (needing attention). Herb gardens, medicinal & culinary, are in process, as well as mushroom cultivation. We are a retired behavioral economist and a retired psychotherapist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, both multidisciplinary in focus, who spend their free time exploring, and writing about, human nature in relationship with the universe; discovering spirituality as a way of learning about oneself, and one’s individual path; (not religious), enjoying our animals and the fruits of our small farm living. We are dedicated to change; and learning and developing to the full extent of our capabilities in this lifetime. We enjoy sharing what we have learned to the extent of interest expressed, and anticipate many spirited and fascinating dialogues with current residents of our Ascending Gardens community. The third participating member of our Ascending Gardens team is a young woman, co-owner of part of the property, employed full-time with a non-profit organization in Moscow, ID that is educational, community, volunteer, and nature focused. She is here one day a week, contributing wherever necessary, making many seemingly impossible things possible, and adding her curiosity and enthusiasm to our continuously integrating vision of ways of service to the land and future stewards.
