I’m still not sure exactly why Elvira’s method works, but it does! At the end of the day, the foals turn out the same. They lead the same, they tie up the same, and there is no difference between one method and the other.

I’ve watched Elvira add a few things to her training method the more foals she’s worked with. When she wants to move, she’ll start circling around them to unlock their feet and shoulders, then walk off with them. It’s really interesting to watch!

This is her first year halter breaking foals, and she’s learning lots along the way. I’m curious to see if she takes on the same method next year! 😊

Welcome to our marital way of finding balance with this transition from fall to winter weather!

An 80-degree house with me sweating my ass off will indeed give me the kick in the ass I need to get out of it and go do something! 🤣

…If you see my husband today, kick him in the ass for me, please. 😂😛

The Mabel Train, our mammoth donkey, halter training one of our keeper fillies by PLR Salty Hancock out of our home-raised Driftwood mare, YP DriftN Lil Lena!

This filly was a fun one to watch because she had the opposite problem from the other foal we posted about! She had so much forward momentum that Mabel Train had to find a smarter way to work around it and teach her what she wanted her to do, which was SLOW DOWN!

I love this filly’s work ethic! She’s a cool one to keep around, and we’re looking forward to watching her grow up here on the ranch. ❤️

Let’s pause for a moment from halter breaking foals and enjoy God’s Country while getting some of our cattle home!

There’s something to be grateful for in even the smallest of moments, and today I’m grateful for my dog, my horse, God’s Country, my husband, my dad, a friend who let us use his corrals, and happy, fat cattle. ❤️

Our c**t from yesterday that was on our mammoth Jenny Elvira for halter training!

In this video, I chat your ear off about nothing in particular other than foals, their brains, and lay my heart bare a little. ❤️

Nothing kicks your ass in gear to get those summer projects finished quite like the first snow flurry’s of the year!! 😂😛❄️⛄️

We’re getting the rest of the horse pens buttoned up and a few things we needed done before the ground freezes! 🥶

We’ve been getting some questions about whether every foal reacts the same way when put on the donkeys for halter training!

In this video, I explain a little about how our donkeys work with a foal that naturally wants to set back on his hind end and pull rather than move forward.

I like our donkeys to be patient and kind, rather than mindlessly pulling a foal around. They’ll work in a circle with them, encouraging them to move their front end around with them instead of just pulling on their face.

It doesn’t take long for the foal to figure out how to give to the pressure and start moving forward! 😊

Old man winter what do you think you’re doing….❄️🥶😛 that’s Bonaparte mountain with a skiff of snowy frost on it.
