Does anyone know who this lady is? I have her in too much shade & she’s been sending up long canes for a couple years…. & now I’ve gotten this incredibly gorgeous single cluster. I have no idea if she’s from a cutting I made or something I bought in so small it’s taken her this long to establish. I’m going to move her into a sunny spot because obviously she’s ready to leave the little nursery area I’ve had her in (in years past I’ve had to protect the roses from deer & baby them water wise because our water is spring fed & off grid)…and our water situation has been one of life’s greatest trials! Still hand watering everything…but I feel a fresh wind to take a new whack at our irrigation situation in hopes we may have a life ahead of us that doesn’t involve several hours a day of hand watering everything. Anyway, wondering if anyone recognizes this beauty!

Update: I figured it out! Ok, recently with my refreshed rose kick this year (although I’ve always been a DA/antique rose hoarder since my first garden in “98) I looked through my entire history of emails for everything I have ordered to make sense of some I have lost tags for. I realized I had ordered “Aimee Vibert” but had no idea where she was…so I screenshotted her online…and this afternoon I realized it’s her I found today! Praise the Lord! Ok, now to move her so she can thrive! I obviously stuck her here years ago when the garden was getting started (because we basically removed everything existing that was here & started from scratch!) So I was buying in starts and new at the same time I was working on ripping everything old/overgrown out. I’m currently overwhelmed by the amount of quince that has become incredibly invasive & is taking over the front hill…but Rome wasn’t built in a day & I’ll just keep digging it out…one day at a time, right?

So this is AIMEE VIBERT, a Noisette introduced in 1828 by Jean-Pierre Vibert, named for his daughter.
Significance: One of the first perpetual-flowering climbing roses.

Now to make a metal tag for her that will last until eternity! 🌹✨😂💅🏻

Saint Swithun…I can’t believe how large & gorgeous these blooms are. I’ve had her in a big pot down in the garden but have decided she belongs climbing on the house. Absolutely stunning.
