🌲 Welcome to Evermore Tree Farm! 🌲

At Evermore Tree Farm, our story is deeply rooted in family and tradition. It all began in 2016, when the seed for our farm was planted in memory of our beloved Nanny Kay. Inspired by her love for nature and the joy of Christmas, we embarked on a journey to create a haven of evergreen beauty in Orrington, Maine.

🌳 Our Journey: From Saplings to Joyful Memories

From the outset, our mission has been to cultivate a legacy of love and dedication to the land. Each spring, we honor our roots by traveling to a Christmas tree farm in northern New Hampshire, where the grandparent trees were planted in the 1940s. Here, we hand-select saplings to bring back to our farm, continuing a tradition that spans generations. With each passing year, we plant 7700 new saplings on about 50 acres, nurturing them with care and patience as they grow towards maturity. In eight years' time, these trees will be harvested to bring joy to families during the holiday season, carrying on the spirit of generosity and celebration that defines our farm.

🌿 A Labor of Love, A Tribute to Family

Evermore Tree Farm is more than just a business—it's a tribute to the cherished memories of our ancestors and loved ones. From our grandfather Albert to our father/grandfather Warren, from our father Jim to the visionary who first broke ground on our farm, Larry—they are all with us in spirit, guiding our hands and hearts as we tend to the land they loved. In honor of our family's legacy, we've established the Warren A. Mitchell Scholarship, supporting students of all ages pursuing education in trade schools across Maine. Through our tree "adoptions," individuals can sponsor saplings, knowing that their contribution not only nurtures a tree but also helps fund the scholarship, ensuring that future generations have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

🌻 Building Community, Cultivating Connections

While we eagerly await the day when our trees are ready to welcome families seeking the perfect Christmas centerpiece, we're laying the groundwork for a vibrant community hub. In May 2024, we'll host Children's Tree Planting Day, inviting families to join us in the joy of nurturing new life on the farm. As we look ahead to the fall of 2024, we envision Open Farm Day—a celebration of our shared connection to the land. With small-scale live music, local vendors, and tours of the tree farm, it's an opportunity for neighbors and visitors alike to come together, forging bonds that will last a lifetime.

A visitor at the farm 🌲🌲🌲 An adult Cooper’s Hawk. ✨️In Maine, these hawks are often confused with the smaller Sharp-shinned Hawk, but there are a few clear "tells" in your picture that confirm it's a Cooper’s:

The "Cap": Notice the dark grey feathers on the very top of its head that contrast with the lighter grey on the back of its neck (the nape). This gives it a "capped" look. A Sharp-shinned hawk would look like it’s wearing a solid dark hood that continues down the neck.

The Face: It has a very "stern" expression due to the strong ridge over its eye. Sharp-shinned hawks tend to have larger, bug-looking eyes that give them a more "surprised" look.

The Tail: Though it’s partially tucked, the tail on a Cooper's is generally longer and more rounded at the tip compared to the square-ended tail of its smaller cousin.

Coloration: Those striking red eyes and the fine orange-red barring on the chest are classic features of a mature adult.

It’s quite the majestic visitor to have perched right on the sign!

Cooper's Hawks are incredibly agile fliers, often seen darting through trees or hanging around bird feeders (though usually they're looking for a meal of a different kind).
