Change of plans! Due to the uncertainty of the weather (possibly lots of rain and wind), the market has been cancelled tomorrow.

However, we have to deliver pre-orders anyway, so we will still be there, with extra product, but only from 10am to noon. I believe 2nd Spring Farm and maybe a few other vendors are planning to be there during that time as well.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us. Text or call, 330-317-7283.

It's lambing season at Triple Creek Farm (our partner farm)! Marvin and Miriam will be joining us at the Frostville Farmers Market this Saturday. We'll be offering free samples of some of our meats (hopefully grilling if the weather isn't too bad!) so come on out and say hi!

Zeus and Candy (our livestock guardian dogs) have 9 puppies that are ready for new homes! The puppies have been raised with the chickens, so they're ready to guard your backyard flock! They're very friendly and would also make great pets.

Did you know...? We get our baby chicks and turkeys via USPS! They're shipped from a hatchery in PA in cardboard boxes with air holes so the birds can breathe. It usually takes one to two days for them to arrive. They're kept in a brooder (in this case a repurposed truck box) to keep them warm for a few weeks, then they're ready to go outside.

The chicks take about 8 weeks from hatch date to butcher date. These will be ready by the end of June.

The turkeys take more like 16 weeks. These have already had their time in the brooder and are ready for pasture. Wouldn't you like a lush pasture like that if you were a turkey?!! LOL

Most of you know that we use Great Pyrenees dogs to protect our chickens from foxes, hawks, minks, and other critters that like chicken for dinner. We have one pair of dogs with our main flock of chickens (about 400 birds), and another pair that guards the small flock (20 or so birds) by our Guest House. Several weeks ago we lost Lulu, the female at the Guest House (she was older and we knew it was coming). So Jasper, the younger male, has been pretty lonely. He hung close to the cows for awhile.

We finally found a friend for him. We looked for an adult female but couldn't find one that was already trained on chickens. They tend to protect what they grow up with, so we ended up with a puppy - about 4 months old. They've taken to each other well! Meet Jasper and Jasmine...

Apparently I didn't do a very good job of giving hints about how many gallons of maple syrup we made! We had quite a few guesses that were way over the actual total. What I said was that last year we had hoped for 300 gallons but only ended up with 254, and also that this year we did better and set a record.

Our final total was...300 gallons exactly...not sure how we did that, but that's where we ended up. And our winner this year - guessing 295 gallons - is Maria Troyer!! Congratulations, Maria, you know where to get your free quart of syrup!
