It is finally feeling like spring around here and I've got the tuber store updated on the website!

I have not added inventory yet, but I have listed all the varieties I will be selling this year along with prices. Very soon I will officially be opening things up. To be the first to know, make sure you sign up for the mailing list on the website.

Photos today are of some of the varieties that I will be offering for the first time! I am really excited to be sharing these with you all!

Thank you again for all of your support! Next time you hear from me, the tuber sale will be live ❤️

Happy New Year everyone 🥳

Most of you know that I haven't been as active as I was in the past. It was my ritual to spend an hour each and every day editing and typing up a message to share with you all. It has been a few years since I've been in the habit of doing that. I've tried to get back into the grind of posting in the past, but I'm going to steer away from promising that this time.

I would like to spend a moment to share some happenings on the farm and my personal life though.

2025 was a big year. Going into it I was a nervous wreck. Kelton, who had been with me since year one, decided to move on for other opportunities. That left me with no employees on the farm for the first time in my 10 years of growing. Everything seemed so daunting. I had to figure out how to manage both my family's Christmas Tree Farm and the Flower Farm with extremely limited help.

In June I proposed to my then girlfriend Natalie on a calm evening in the middle of the peony field on the farm, and, fortunately, she said, "Yes" ❤️

In August we were married at the courthouse in Clarkston. The ceremony and small dinner after were perfect.

Flower season started soon after. I swear it goes by faster each year. I dropped the Rochester Farmers Market after 10 years of attending. I was sad to not see everyone each week, but for the first time after many years I didn't want to burn the fields down by the end of the season. Just enough pressure was taken off that I felt I could finally feel some sense of balance.

The tree farm was sold out in two quick weekends. We are truly blessed to have become part of so many folks Christmas traditions.

So much more happened, but it is too much to type here. At the end of all of that though, while tired and craving a bit of a vacation, I am feeling pretty good mentally. Although I did have to cut back on the farm, this was actually a profitable year for the farm (which is more than I can say for the majority of the years I've been in business). 12 months ago I prayed I would make it through the year and it happened.

As always, thank you so much for your support. In the next few days I hope to share a bit about upcoming 2026 plans ❤️

💐 Event Update 💐

If you are a Michigander and have looked at the last few days, you have seen colder weather on its way to us! Currently they are calling for clear skies, no wind, and 31 degrees for the night of Wednesday, October 8th.

If that forecast holds true, it means that our season will be ending overnight Wednesday. Once our blooms are hit by a hard frost or freezing temperatures there is no coming back.

With that said, I had originally scheduled our final you pick for October 12th. I've updated the date to October 8th, from 4pm to 7pm. This is our end of season and fan favorite Bring Your Own Bucket event.

I just listed tickets for this event where you will find around 180 varieties of dahlias and 70 varieties of annual flowers to pick. There will be no guarantee of exact flower varieties at this one. If everyone brings a large bucket, the dahlias will go quickly, but there will be loads of other beautiful flowers out there too.

Thank you for all the support throughout the season! I haven't had a day off in 45 days and I would be lying if I wasn't a little excited about a break coming up soon!

Today's dahlia is a fun one from my seedling patch! It doesn't have a name yet, but I hope it keeps looking as beautiful as it did this year!

Quick Farm Update!

Where has the season gone? It feels like September just started and yet it feels like forever. Most likely because I haven't taken a day off in 40+ days 🙃 Anywho, I wanted to share a couple of updates I made this morning.

The weather looks like it is going to cooperate this fall, so I have added one more of our "Standard" you picks for October 5th. This was originally going to be our end of season BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) event that celebrates the end of the season.

The BYOB event is now going to take place on October 12th.

As always, tickets for these events go on sale one week prior.

Tickets for the 28th you pick are currently sold out, but I hope to release a few more tomorrow around noon since the fields are looking good.

After that, it will be time to shut the fields down for the great tuber dig of 2025 and pack them away for the year.

As always, thank you for all your support this season!

Today's dahlias are some from my seedling patch! These blooms are some of my favorite out there right now. The plant is around 5' tall, lots of long sturdy stems, and the bloom is the same color, but twice the size of Rose Toscano.

Such a beautiful selection of flowers on the farm right now.

Managing the farm has been a struggle this year. From 2018 to 2023 I had 6 people helping me on the flower farm. In 2024 I had one plus a little extra from a few folks. This year it has just been me except for a couple weeks.

The farm is going through a bit of a transition right now. Learning how to do things with less help. Learning how to be as efficient as possible.

Considering the challenges this year, I am really proud of the flowers. The annual field is absolutely unreal to see and experience. About 80% of the dahlias are looking great.

Most of the farm is taking a rest this year. I planted around an acre of flowers this year split between around 40 varieties of annual flowers and 200 or so varieties of dahlias. In the past, we had around 5 acres of dahlias planted.

There have been some hard lessons in the years I've been growing. More isn't always better. Lessons on crop rotation. Never go into debt (thank God I didn't have to learn that one first hand). Make sure you always have some balance in life.

Anywho, I wanted to drop in and give a little update. Now that September is right around the corner, we will be here with loads of beautiful flowers for the next 6 weeks or so. This is what we work all year for ❤️

I hope to update the website tomorrow and have regular farm hours starting next week. Local folks, keep an eye out for an email tomorrow with some extra info on all happenings on the farm.

I hope to see you at the You Pick tomorrow! There are plenty of tickets left, dahlias, and annual flowers to go around 😊 Check events page on the website for more details ❤️

The time has finally arrived! Flowers are here!

This year has been a strange one. It feels like every community has experienced something different than those a few miles away. For us, the season started wet. Tractor sinking into the ground and getting stuck wet. It never really dried out until a few weeks ago for us and now we are in the midst of a drought.

All of that said, we planted a record number of annuals this year. Our field is around a half acre and stuffed full with more than 22,000 zinnias, snapdragons, ageratum, cosmos, and so much more. Even with the crazy weather, this field is looking absolutely amazing right now! And now is your chance to experience it in person!

I just listed tickets for our first You Pick of the season for Sunday, August 17th! The dahlias need a couple more weeks, but we have 10s of thousands of other flowers in the field right now for you to choose from. I'm excited to welcome you all back to the farm!

You can sign up for this event on the events page of our website. I look forward to seeing you at the farm!
