On the road home from our latest journey, back in Lebanon, TN for the KCBS World invitational BBQ. The word for the weekend was rain, but the company was top notch and the vibes were great!
Day 1 for the Open, we should have known would be an off day for us when the B&G routine was thrown off - half the biscuits didn't rise and we had to cut our breakfast deliveries short! After that, we sat on our hands at awards - our scores were nothing to write home about, and a bit difficult to interpret - but the only thing you can do in that situation is shrug it off and run it back. Congratulations to our neighbor and fellow HLSR cook Ryan King with Kings BBQ for the dominant GC and Scuffletown Smokers BBQ Team on RGC, both punching their ticket to the BBQ World Cup & Expo coming up in 2027!
Day 2 for the Invitational, after our an emergency run to Walmart for more biscuits and a successful breakfast tradition executed, we ran the program and felt solid about our cook. Day 2 was certianly a better day for us:
1st place Smart Chicken with a Perfect Perfect 180 🥇🐔
10th place Compart Family Farms Ribs 🍖🐖
4th place Compart Family Farms Pork 🐷.....but then we didn't call in brisket. 😬 (If you know, you know.)
And then if you weren't already aware of the calibur, skill, and talent of cooks at this contest, we find out they are calling the top 23 PLACES, because they were all 700s! 🤯
So we sat, and waited...and were lucky enough to have to wait all the way to the end to hear our name again, KCBS World Invitational Grand Champions with a 710.8344!
(Our Snake River Farms brisket ended up 47th 🐂)

With this win, we also qualify for the BBQ World Cup & Expo coming up in Vegas in 2027, and our own chance to chase that prize down the
