Finally have a minute to post about our trip to the American Royal World Series of Barbecue and The Jack Daniel's Invitational BBQ.
The new facility at the American Royal was great and will be even better once it is all complete. As for our cooks, Invitational day brought us a 5th place overall finish with an 11th place Rib call. Open day was not as good, but we still managed a 25th Place Rib.
From there we made our way to Nashville for a few days before we loaded into Lynchburg for the Jack. It was great to make it back again since our first trip in 2023. Our schedule was quite full with Champions dinner, Lunch at Mary Bobo's, and the party on the Hill.
Friday was a normal prep day, later in the evening we hosted a watch party for Aidan's football game. Thanks to Joe Osbrink for making fajitas and everyone else who brought something to share and watch the game. Cook day was a little wet as the remnants of the hurricane greeted us early morning. I had a steady stream running through our site all day. I didn't let that bother me, and we turned in some great entries. We didn't get any calls but I was happy with our 14th place overall finish.
This is probably it for this season, but next season will be upon us before we know it.
I want to thank Compart Family Farms, Big Poppa Smokers, LFG BBQ + Outdoor Supply, Snake River Farms for all their great products. We couldn't do this without you.

Good morning from Lynchburg. It is a wet morning as we get the pits lit. Started as soon as I put a match to the coals. Had a good evening watching Aidan's HS football game. They won a tough game, securing their spot in the playoffs. Now it is time for me to bear down and try and bring a win home. Good luck to all competing today wherever you are. Walk often, walk last.

Time to head south for the first leg of our 2 week trip to the American Royal World Series of Barbecue and the Jack Daniel's World Invitational. Time to go chasing ribbons and square trophies. Excited to see all our friends from across the county. See you all soon.

Sunday night supper!!
Started off with a couple racks of lamb cooked on the YS640 seasoned with a little Jallelujah Jalapeno from Big Poppa Smokers , then rested and seared off in a pan. Then made a Rosemary parmesian sauce to top it off. Searved with some mashed potatoes and Ceasars salad.
Everyone loved it. Will definitely be making this again.

**LONG OVERDUE POST**
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind for our team. Lets take you on a little trip. A few weeks ago Aidan and I were on our way to Worthington, MN for the King Turkey Day Smokin' Gobbler BBQ Cook-Off when I suddenly lost oil pressure in the truck as we were heading up I-35. I quickly pulled over and shut down. Had to call in some help. My brother-in-law and his dad were able to come and load my truck and also bring along a spare truck so we could continue on our journey.
Friday night, Aidan cooked the Friday night Rib and placed 8th. It was his first time managing a fire on the offset, and I think he did pretty good.
Cook day came and went and our results were:
14th Chicken
16th Ribs
5th Pork
23rd Brisket
16th Overall
Not our best results but that happens.
On to the next week. Since the truck was down I was looking for a truck to get me to the Shenandoah ShenDig BBQ Championship in Shenandoah, IA. Luckily our friends Dustin and Mary Reese of Hogline were willing to loan me their truck and trailer. I was verry thankful as the truck that I used the weekend prior had no A/C and this was one of the hottest weekends so far for a contest. We ended up a little better this week.
6th Chicken
8th Ribs
2nd Pork with a 180
23rd Brisket
5th Overall.

Next up this past weekend was the St. Pats Annual BBQ Contest in Emmetsburg, IA. Again, without a truck, my brother-in-law hauled my trailer over to the contest for me. Thanks again. We started the weekend off on Thursday evening with a seafood boil with Hot Daddy's BBQ and all of our friends. This year they held the contest at the campground at the casino. I think everyone enjoyed the new venue. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Our results were:
6th Chicken Smart Chicken
1st Ribs Compart Family Farms
9th Pork Compart Family Farms
15th Brisket Snake River Farms
8th Overall

As you probably figured out, Brisket has been a struggle as of late. I am hoping I can get that figured out soon.
As for the truck, it looks like it is time for a fresh engine. We have one more contest this weekend at the Cruisin’ & BBQin’ in Hampton, IA before we have a good long break before we head to Brandon, SD for the CBA contest at Husset's BBQ Shootout.
