Schon Boden’s Lydia finally had her calf today. I was hoping for a heifer but it’s a bull. Big, healthy and hungry, he was reaching for a teat even before he could stand up. Dad is DH Premier.

Let’s talk GMOs… because there’s a LOT of misinformation out there 👇

“Non-GMO” has turned into a marketing goldmine—but most people don’t actually know what it means.

GMO stands for genetically modified organism—basically, crops that have been improved using science to be more efficient, more resilient, and better protected against pests and disease.

And here’s the part that usually surprises people…
Some of the most widely grown GMO crops are things like Corn, Soybeans, Cotton, Canola, Sugar Beets, Alfalfa & Squash (Summer Squash & Zucchini)—used in everything from food products to livestock feed.

But instead of recognizing the benefits, GMOs get labeled as “bad” simply because they sound unfamiliar or “unnatural.”

Meanwhile, these crops help farmers:
🌱 Use fewer resources
🐛 Reduce crop loss from pests
🚜 Grow more food on less land

You don’t have to love GMOs—but pretending they’re dangerous without understanding them doesn’t help anyone.

Farmers use what works, what’s proven, and what helps us keep food on your table & clothes on your back.

Because at the end of the day… fear doesn’t grow food. Farmers & Science does.

Offering electrolyte water on these HOT days we’ve had on and off. Cows, bull, and calves have all been enjoying the extra support needed to manage heat stress. Everyone came running out of the pond for a drink today!

Another heat advisory day feels like 102.

Schon Boden’s Rosie , first time mom, had a calf last night around 11:30pm. 5:30am check I put Cydectin on and determined it’s another heifer. DH Premier is the sire. 8am check, mom left her calf and joined the herd at the other end of the pasture. Calf was wondering around alone. I called the cows and mom came running “whoop I forgot I left my baby over there”. Hopefully she won’t do that again. Baby nursed right away.

8:30 Saturday morning Schon Boden’s Shani had a heifer calf. 6:30am she was still with the herd not giving me any indication that she was going to give birth in the next couple hours. We went out to put up a gate on the new high tensil fence and there was a brand new calf. Another DH Premier baby.
