Health By Plants in Pine River, WI, became the first Certified Naturally Grown produce farm in Waushara County in June of 2016 and the first Certified Naturally Grown mushroom producer in the state of Wisconsin in 2019.
We sell our produce at the Oshkosh Downtown Farmers Market (June thru October). We are also offering direct pickup from the farm. To order for pickup simply visit our website, www.healthbyplants.com, and place your order! We grow on a half-acre in raised beds and in a geodesic greenhouse, where we implement ecologically-friendly practices like composting and crop rotation to maintain our small and highly diverse farm.
For personal, environmental, and sustainability reasons, we don't use animal inputs of any kind in our operation. Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) is a certification program for farmers and beekeepers who use natural practices, without any synthetic chemicals or GMOs, to produce food for their local communities. Many farmers choose CNG because its peer-review inspections serve to foster direct relationships and learning opportunities among farmers, in addition to verifying the program standards are being upheld.
We were inspired to live a plant-based lifestyle after watching the documentary, “Forks Over Knives” in 2012. In 2016, we earned certificates in Plant-Based nutrition from eCornell/ T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. From there, we started raising our own fruits and vegetables and soon after decided to bring our produce to market.
