Mid June... Finally starting to have rain showers, though few and far between... The ranch is only half stocked this summer, and protein tubs have been put out since arrival..

Go back and look at the February post, dead of winter... And there was more color to the winter grass than this dried drought grass, this is just filler, sticks.. The Vineyard herd bulls that winter here, they left today to get ready for Ross's heifers coming in.... sadly... We are only stocking the summer pastures half capacity .. and still it may not last but a few months.. will have to provide protein for them right from the get go.... Normally the grass is a beautiful lush Green right now about mid calf high making it hard to see the rattlesnakes ... It's not that way this year... The big Nebraska Morrill Wildfire was just north about 15-20 miles..

Such a mild open winter so far...
The custom winter bulls are fat and conditioned for summer work..
And the horses have had a warm winter.
