Saeunn (Black Tort) x Norbert(BEW)-Silver Fox litter

The four kits are doing well!
I lost the smallest ones due to the heat spike we had, leaving these four.

One Black Tort and three Chocolate Torts ♥️

I am looking forward to seeing how these kits turn out!

I may be keeping one of them if there is a doe that I really like, to continue with my BEW projects.

I haven’t counted yet, but these are the Guinea eggs I just collected from my two small flocks. I last collected them 10 days ago.

On a side note, when I last collected guinea eggs, I put a dozen in the incubator.
Most of the hens were last year’s hatch, so I wasn’t sure how fertile the eggs would be.
Five eggs are definitely developing, two more are possibly developing and five did not develop so they got tossed.

I may do one more hatching batch when these eggs go into lockdown. I would like to add a few more hens, preferably with Greater Pearl genetics.
Any extra roosters will become free range so they can eat ticks, fleas and mice.

I lost one of the tiny kits night before last, and nest culled the other tiny one that was struggling, and didn’t look to be able to recover.
The recent heat spikes were hard on the litter. After seeing that they how the temps were affecting them on the first day, I chose to bring them in the house the second day of higher temperatures while I was at work.
There’s another small one that I am keeping an eye on, but the others seem to be doing well.
There are currently 2 Black Tory’s, and 3 Chocolate Torts.
I will likely be holding back the best doe out of this litter.

My Black Tort Silver Fox doe (produced by Prater Ranch and Rabbitry) finally kindled!
She had 8 kits total, one of which that did not make it.
Definitely some Black Torts in there, but possibly some BEW(?)
*Sire is a BEW Silver Fox.
Time will tell!

These two littles hatched last night, and I’m fairly certain that they are Greater Pearl, which is a dominant gene.
The last photo is of some keets that I picked up two years ago, thinking they were Royal Purple, but when I started reaching out to guinea breeders, I discovered that they were Greater Pearl.

I have two small flocks now, one has a GP rooster, the other has a GP hen. I collected eggs from both flocks when they started laying, and I figured hatch rate would be low, being early in the season.

I believe that these two are out of the flock that has the GP rooster.

I just put a new batch of eggs in the incubator, most of them from the GP roo flock.
I’m hoping that there are some eggs from the lavender hen in that flock, I’d love to get some Greater Lavender!!

I know one of the GP guineas is het for lavender, because a gal that I sold hatching eggs to last year hatched out a Greater Lavender. 🙂

I’m super excited for the next clutch to hatch!

I phased out my chickens and am going to do guinea eggs primarily for eating (I will hatch some out for those who want keets).
I calculated out how many I would need, to water glass the extra eggs to get me through their down time when they stop laying eggs, and needed to add a few more hens.

I have been trying to get Royal Purple guineas for several years, but either they didn’t come in or I missed out on local breeders.

This year I tried again on pre paying for fancy Guinea keets in hopes that the hatchery sends Royal Purple, and alas, they only sent Pearl and White, so I now have 4 White keets.
Update: unfortunately I lost all 4 of them within a few days :(

I do hope to get a few Royal Purple eventually, I won’t give up!
