Just a little late spring update from Abbott Farms!
Baby plants are getting ready to transition from the greenhouse to the garden, baby chicks have moved to their coop, baby turkeys have hatched, and baby goats are growing up! May is always an exciting time here at the farm!

Here we are again imploring you to buy eggs from us! Our chickens have been loving the spring weather and are very enthusiastically laying eggs! We are getting so many eggs that each person in our family would need to eat 9 eggs a day to keep up with the amount we’re getting. Since we don’t want to have to transition to an egg-only diet, we’re asking you to help us out! 🙂

Our eggs are usually $4 a dozen, but currently we’re selling them for $3 a dozen, or 4 dozen for $10!

Email Caroline at [email protected], or call (269) 692-2328 to set a time to pick up at our farm!

In other egg news, our chicks in the incubator survived a super close tornado and hatched on generator, and we now have 37 happy little chicks! We are very thankful to be safe and sound from the storms with no damage (and the power is back on now!)

April on the farm means lots of new life and color and beauty everywhere! This is the month where things really start coming alive, and even the ground starts breathing again. The baby goats are thriving, the eggs in the incubator are just about to hatch, and even our garden is just beginning with tiny little plants grown from seed in our basement. It’s always an exciting month as we look to the summer and enjoy the colorful beauty around us!

Our chickens have decided that it is spring and they should lay the most eggs possible!! Because of this, we’ve been overrun with eggs (and we can only eat eggs so many times a day before we get tired of them!). Easter is around the corner, and our eggs dye beautifully!!!
Lots and lots of eggs for sale at Abbott Farms, $4.00/dozen!
Please email [email protected], or call (269) 692-2328 to let us know when you want to stop by and pick some up!!

This weekend we had to say goodbye to an old friend— our faithful cat Socks. He was almost fourteen, and passed away as peacefully as he always lived.
Socks was our mild-mannered kitty, brother of the famous Tommy, and faithful friend of everyone and everything on the farm. He quietly hunted mice and patrolled the property, and was happy to spend any moment he could with us (his favorite people). Although he wasn’t much for cuddling, just being next to one of his favorite humans would make him purr, something he carried with him even on his last day alive. One of Socks’ favorite pastimes was to sit on our old radio and stare out the barn window (we would always joke that he had his own radio show since he was “on the radio”). He faithfully welcomed whatever changes came on the farm, even when it meant lots of other cats to share his space with. His quiet and gentle presence will be missed on the farm, especially because he had a habit of just showing up no matter where we were working to keep us company. 🤍

We’re all sitting here waiting for the snow to melt, but the warmer weather and sunshine is making everyone on the farm feel much more happy and energized! I think everyone is feeling the relief of making it through the worst of the winter (we assume 😅)
