Friends, you know that farming and activism/advocacy go hand in hand with me. Recently I've been working with a coalition to defeat the Ending Agriculture Trade Suppression Act (EATS Act)/Food Security and Farm Protection Act.
The EATS Act would negate California's Prop 12 law (a citizen initiative that won 63% of the vote) and other state laws like it. Prop 12 is one of the most significant wins for animal welfare in decade and it makes life better for millions of pigs, chickens, and cattle. (The EATS Act is the brainchild of former Iowa congressman, Steve King - Yes, that Steve King.)
We're up against powerful lobbyists backed by the biggest meat companies including the new agriculture secretary Brooke Rollins.
To win, we're being strategic and targeting efforts at representatives and senators on committees that can help kill it there.
One of those is congresswoman Delia Ramirez (IL -03).
