Being a stay at home mom is so hard. In fact, sometimes “hard” feels like too small a word for this God ordained role.

It is self sacrificing. And without the grace and mercy of God, without His Word, without His strength, without Him, it is utterly impossible to do faithfully and fruitfully.

Today is definitely one of those days.

But on days like this, when I feel like giving up and like I’m holding on by a thread, with every weak breath I take, His strength becomes all the more real. His help is ever present. His grace is sufficient. His lovingkindness abounds, and His truth is what guards me.

It’s okay to have a bad day. But on the bad days, let me remember and recall the good, Jesus the lover of my soul.

And maybe, in fact, this bad day is one of the best days for me. Not because it feels good, but because it draws me into deeper dependence on the Lord. It reminds me to expectantly look to Him to be my help in time of need, my strength when I have none left, and my all in all.

Today I have very little to offer in my own strength.

But His grace is sufficient for me. 🤍

"Work is a blessing. God has so arranged the world that work is necessary, and He gives us hands and strength to do it. The enjoyment of leisure would be nothing if we had only leisure. It is the joy of work well done that enables us to enjoy rest, just as it is the experiences of hunger and thirst that make food and drink such pleasures.”

The first day of school started for us this week. This is our second year of homeschool for my oldest and the first for my two younger ones.

Motherhood and being a homemaker have been sanctifying, and at times it feels like they’re bringing out the worst in me instead of the best. But what I realize, as these idols and sins of the heart surface, is that I stand at a fork in the road—to give in and let the flesh rule my home and my heart, or to submit myself to God, confess, repent, trust Him, and walk in obedience.

It is not easy. Sometimes it is moment by moment, with a whole lot of praying and a whole lot of trying. It is fighting the battle to set my heart and eyes on the reward and press on toward the upward call.

Praise the Lord, the war is already won. 🤍

Our little slide-out has finally come together.
It isn’t perfect, and there are still things we would like to change, but it works for our family for now.

This season has been teaching me that a home doesn’t have to be finished to be enjoyed. Sometimes it just needs to be functional, lived in, and received with thankfulness. 🤍

Homemaking has a way of reminding me how limited I really am.

There are meals to make, children to teach, messes to clean, and people to care for and I cannot faithfully carry any of it in my own strength.

The most important reminder in my homemaking is that I can do nothing apart from Christ.

Not because the work is unimportant, but because even the most ordinary work must flow from abiding in Him. He is the One who gives me the strength, patience, wisdom, and grace I need for today.

So when the house is messy, my energy is gone, and I feel like I’m falling behind, I don’t need to try harder apart from Him. I need to draw nearer to Him through unceasing prayer and devotion to His word.

John 15:5 🤍
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Soooo this is why I haven't done an RV tour 😅

Things don’t always have to be perfect. Sometimes, they just need to be good enough. 😉

We thought we were finally finished with the RV renovation, but when we turned the water back on and de-winterized everything, we realized we had forgotten to reconnect one of the lines. Water spread from the bathroom into part of the kitchen and dining area, so we had to pull up the vinyl planks and let everything dry.
Once the flooring dried, it didn’t fit back together the same way. Now the fridge is sitting in front of the kids’ room, and part of the floor is still unfinished.

It wasn’t ideal, but it was still good enough.

The kids have their own room and a space to call their own on their bunks. We have a working refrigerator filled with food, running water, and a place to call home. We have supportive family, caring friends, and a church family that sharpens us and stirs us up to love and serve the Lord. I get to stay home with my children, teach them, and care for the space God has given us.
But most of all, we have a faithful God who holds us in the palm of His hand. He is steady when life feels messy, gracious when we fall short, and worthy of our trust in every season.

Trust me, we are a whole mess sometimes, and it can be so easy to become discontent. But there is so much to be thankful for when we keep our eyes pointed in the right direction. 🤍

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

One of the kids' favorite breakfasts...
Bacon and Egg Fried Rice. 🍳🥓🍚

We finish it off with ketchup, and somehow it just works. It's simple, filling, and always disappears fast. 🤍
