You wanted more deli.

More sandwiches. More grab-and-go options. More of those incredible imported Italian meats and cheeses you see in our cases, put to very, very good use.

So we’ve been working on something new.

Introducing: The Mercato Menu. 🥖

Launching with our reopening, The Mercato Menu will feature a lineup of deli sandwiches, fresh salads and cold specialties made with imported Italian meats and cheeses, fresh local produce, and the quality ingredients you expect from Villaggio.

And for those who know that freshly sliced makes all the difference…

🔪 Dedicated deli hours are coming, too.

Come in, choose from our Italian specialties, and have them sliced fresh to order to take home.

We’re still putting the finishing touches on the Mercato Menu — testing combinations, arguing over sandwiches, and making sure every one earns its spot. 🤌

VILLAGGIO 2.0 IS HERE. 🇮🇹🍋

We finally have a date.

Villaggio Italian Market & Bistro will officially reopen on Wednesday, September 16th!

What we thought would be a move and renovation quickly became a much bigger project than any of us anticipated. Over the past few months, our new North Avenue home has been transformed from the ground up…new flooring, fresh paint, walls coming down, walls being moved, a newly configured handicap-accessible restroom and entrance, all-new electrical, all-new plumbing, and yes… AIR CONDITIONING. 🙌

No more closing early because the market feels like the surface of the sun. 😂

It has taken longer than we hoped. It has tested our patience more than once. But we refused to rush the work just for the sake of opening the doors.

Because this wasn’t about simply moving Villaggio.

It was about building the Villaggio we knew we could become.

More space. More possibilities. A better experience for our guests and our team. And all of the food, sandwiches, imported Italian favorites, familiar faces and slightly chaotic Villaggio energy you’ve been missing.

Founder’s Members: Your welcome gifts will be available in store following our reopening! We cannot wait to finally welcome you into the new space and celebrate the community that helped us get here.

We’ll be announcing details for our official Grand Opening celebration in October, because after everything it took to get here, we absolutely intend to celebrate properly. 🥂

Thank you for your patience, your messages, your encouragement, and for continuing to believe in this little Italian market that somehow keeps turning into something bigger than we imagined.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE. 🤎

And today, we’re especially grateful for ours.

Apparently one of our favorite customers, Corey Relyea was really missing his Villaggio sandwiches, because yesterday he reached out and asked what we needed to keep things moving.

My response?

“Some strapping gentlemen to help us move some coolers?” 😂

No questions asked, Corey responded:

“How many and when?”

And just like that, our friends at RAZ Recycling in Owego showed up today with some strong arms and a willingness to help us tackle the heavy lifting.

In a matter of hours, we made more progress than we’ve been able to make in weeks of trying to Jenga our way around coolers, equipment, contractors, and construction.

There are a lot of moving pieces involved in bringing this new Villaggio to life, and days like today remind us just how lucky we are to be doing it here.

It truly takes a village, and we are incredibly proud to be part of this one. 🇮🇹🤌

Thank you, Corey, and thank you to the crew at RAZ Recycling. We owe you some lunch. 🥪❤️

A little backend glitch prevented us from collecting T-shirt sizes when you checked out, so please check your email and reply with your size so we can have your welcome gift ready!

We also had 5 Passport purchasers check out without an email address on their order. If you didn’t receive an email from us, please send us a message at [email protected] with your order number, and we’ll get you taken care of!

🏗️ Villaggio 2.0 Construction Update! 🇮🇹

We know everyone is anxiously awaiting our reopening — trust us, we are too! ❤️

Right now, we’re working closely with the Village of Owego Code Department to make sure our new space is fully ADA compliant and accessible, because it’s incredibly important to us that EVERYONE can enjoy Villaggio without constraints.

There are a few things that have taken a little more time to work through than we originally anticipated, but we’re making progress and are hopeful to have everything resolved this week.

And that means… 🤞

We’re hoping to finally announce our official REOPENING DATE next week! 🎉🍝🍷

Thank you for hanging in there with us while we build Villaggio 2.0 the right way. We promise, what’s waiting on the other side of these construction walls will be worth it.

We’re ridiculously excited to share that our own Anastasia will be representing Villaggio at the Rumble Ponies’ Italian Night Meatball Mania competition this Thursday, August 6th!

And if you’ve had Anastasia’s meatballs at Villaggio… you already know. 👀

Those celebrity judges have NO IDEA what they’re in for. 😂🤌🏼

Anastasia will be putting our Villaggio meatballs up against some of the best in the Southern Tier, and we couldn’t think of anyone better to represent us.

On this gloomy Sunday, we’re feeling especially grateful for the people who make Owego such an incredible place to call home and do business.

A huge thank you to our amazing neighbors and friends, Maggie & Rob at Roasted, for so generously opening their doors and giving us the perfect space to host today’s lemon-themed baby shower. 💛

Maggie & Rob truly embody what it means to support your fellow small businesses…showing up, lending a hand, and finding a way to say “we’ve got you” when it matters. That kind of community is something really special, and we’re so lucky to have it here in Owego.

And an equally heartfelt thank you to the wonderful Ford family for choosing Villaggio to be part of such a special celebration, even while we’re in the middle of our transition into our new home. Your trust in us means more than you know.

Today was a beautiful reminder that small businesses don’t just exist in a community — we’re built by one. 🍋🤍

That pesky wall is officially GONE…and suddenly, you can really see the vision coming together.

Huge shoutout to Paul Horsky for making it happen. 🔨

Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves, put Villaggio back together, and get this beautiful new space ready for all of you.
