The persimmon trees are hitting their stride with another big week. This trailer of fruit is headed to Twin Springs Fruit Farm who will bring them to markets in the area. We’re expecting at least one more good week and then we’ll have see what’s left. This is the first year we expect the season to end in mid-November.

The persimmons are back! We’re excited to report that after last year’s fruit hiatus, the trees have pumped out what looks like a pretty good crop. Like other fruit trees in the region it looks like we’re on track for a slightly earlier start to the season, perhaps mid-October, but we’ll see how the next two weeks go and what happens with the weather.

7 years ago when we bought Bill Preston’s “persimmon patch” (as he called it), we didn’t know how wonderful this hobby would turn out to be. We’re so grateful to all of you persimmon fans! The trees looks on track for a pretty good harvest this year depending how the next few months go. We sell mainly to other wholesale fruit vendors who go to farmers markets around the DMV and usually do one weekend of direct sales in November. We’ll post here about that weekend, stay tuned!
