When I saw the post about his availability, looked into his genetics, and then realized that we could easily meet transport with a three hour drive, “Bill” joined our herd in early January. He is growing beautifully, is super full of personality, and will be used heavily in our herd this fall.

Bill is not a fan of photo sessions😆

The Dogwood Dairy Divas Goat Show in Carrollton was our first show of the season, and it was a great day for Sweet Song!

CH (pending) Sweet Song HE Lirit took Grand in both rings to become our very first finished champion!! ❤️🖤🤍

Then Sweet Song PP Tallulah earned her dry leg in Ring 1! ❤️🖤🤍

We took seven does, and our placings were as follows:
Ring 1
Seniors
Sweet Song PL Shillelagh (2yo) 1st place
Sweet Song JL Petrichor (4yo) 1st place & BUOB
Sweet Song HE Lirit (6yo) 1st place and Grand Champion

Juniors (all dry yearlings)
Sweet Song PP Tallulah 1st place and Jr. Grand Champion
Sweet Song PR Tutuila 3rd place
Sweet Song JL Teardrop Tybee 6th place
Sweet Song Tillie’s Tattletale 7th place

Tallulah was scratched, and everyone else moved up a placing from Ring 1 as a result.

We had lots of help showing, and I appreciate all the help as we handed off goats to hold or to show. My fabulous husband and our amazing daughter, Rachel Rutledge, helped from loading the trailer on Friday to unloading it back at home on Saturday night. They were invaluable at making it a fun, relaxed showing experience! It’s always wonderful to show with my goat partner, Jessica Stoker Weeks, and we had a great time spending the day together. We even remembered to take pictures before milking out!

Thank you to the show committee for all your hard work to make this show possible. It’s a pleasure to get such concise, genuine, friendly, informative feedback from judges, and both of these judges did just that.

Sweet Song PP Sanibel wrapped up kidding season for us early Wednesday morning with a buck and a doe. Sanibel is another Platinum daughter, and these kids are by Sweet Song HE Iliad, our Henning son.

We are very relieved that kidding season is over, and, once again, we are very thankful for healthy does and kids, even though it took a little extra effort this year.

Sweet Song PP Shiloh, another Platinum daughter, kidded today. Shiloh is a sentimentally special girl as the last daughter of SG Sweet Song Every Promise, our retired herd queen. I am very pleased with her FF mammary so far.

Sweet Song HE Lirit kidded on March 3 with a single large doeling by Rockin-CB Platinum. Lirit is a Henning daughter that has a beautiful, productive mammary.

This was a repeat breeding that we retained a doe from two years ago. That doe, Sweet Song PL Shillelagh, freshened beautifully last week. Mammary pictures will be posted soon. This doeling will be available at weaning.

Sweet Song PL Shillelagh, our first Platinum daughter to freshen, also freshened last week on February 25 with 1 buck and 1 doe. After a quick rearrange of her rear legs, the breach doe arrived quickly, and she was followed by her bigger and correctly positioned brother. Shillelagh is a doting mama with a beautiful, easy to milk FF mammary.

These kids are by Rustic Woods OK Akia, and the doeling is retained.
