So, we’ve been pretty busy lately with senior year celebrations and end-of-the-school-year events, so I haven’t posted in a bit, but I have something HUGE to share!
Wednesday evening, Payton and I were out taking some last-minute cap and gown photos with Mason and Liv and didn’t get home until around 8:00. After chores in the barn, we finally headed inside. I was just about to start dinner (around 9:00!) when David called and said that one of our heifers, who was due to calve, was acting odd in the pasture and he thought it was time!
We got her into the barn where we had better light, and it quickly became clear that she was indeed in the early stages of labor. Long story short, I pulled an all-nighter, David pulled a most of the nighter 😉, we faced a few complications, and said a whole lot of prayers. Thankfully, everything turned out just fine because at 4:50 a.m., David and I pulled the cutest little baldy heifer into the world!
Momma and baby are both doing great, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her. Help us welcome this sweet girl, born in the early morning hours of Payton’s graduation day!
No sleep was had, but it ended up being one of the best 24 hours we could have asked for.
Now the big question...what should we name her?
