Did you know dehydrating is one of the easiest ways to preserve fresh basil so you can use it all year?

A few tips for preserving basil after you dehydrate it:

🌿 Make sure it’s completely dry. Any remaining moisture can cause mold or spoilage.

🌿 Let it cool completely before storing. Sealing warm herbs can create condensation inside the container.

🌿 Store it airtight in a glass jar or another airtight container.

🌿 Keep it cool, dark and dry. Light, heat and moisture can cause dried herbs to lose their flavor and color more quickly.

🌿 Keep some leaves whole. I like to crush basil as I need it rather than grinding the entire batch at once. Whole leaves generally hold their aroma better.

🌿 Label your jars. The date and herb name make it much easier to keep track of your preserved harvest.

Happy Birthday to one of the hardest working people I know! ❤️

For 20 years, he’s been by my side, and somehow he still puts up with all my crazy ideas. 😂

I couldn’t do it all without his help....aka his carpentry skills, fence building skills, and incredible work ethic. He’s a huge part of everything we do here at McNamee Homestead.

We’re pretty lucky to have him! ❤️🐓🐖🌱

I used to be embarrassed when I didn’t have all the answers.
Some people seem to have an answer for everything...and they’re not afraid to let you know it. 😂
Me? I definitely don’t have it all figured out. And half the time, when I actually do know something… I just can’t remember it when someone asks me! 🤦‍♀️

And I think that’s part of what Jesus invites us into. Faith isn’t pretending we have all the answers. It’s being willing to keep seeking Him, even when we have questions.

I’d much rather say “I don’t know, but I’m willing to learn” than pretend I have it all figured out.

Because we’re not finished yet. ❤️
Keep growing. Keep learning. Keep asking questions. Keep seeking Jesus.
