My Quality Control Manager takes her job VERY seriously. 🐾

Every blanket has to pass her inspection before it gets the official approval. That means making sure they no longer smell “yucky,” giving them a thorough sniff test, and, of course, adding a good roll-around during folding as her final stamp of approval. 😂

This blanket earned a gold star and is officially ready to head home!

Do you still have blankets stacked in a pile in the corner of your barn? Now is the perfect time to get them to me and added to my wash queue.

I’ll be at FENCE this Friday and Saturday for the Foothills Riding Club Show, and you’re welcome to drop off blankets with me while I’m there. I’ll get them checked in, added to the queue, and back to you before you need them again this fall.

🚨 Blanket Myth Buster! 🚨

Did you know that no waterproofing product can make your turnout blanket as waterproof as it was the day it left the factory? Once that original waterproof membrane starts to fail, there's no spray that can ever fully replace it.

When you add a water repellent treatment to your blanket service, it isn't creating a new waterproof layer—it's helping protect and extend the life of the original one. That's why every blanket that receives this service goes home with an info card explaining exactly what the treatment does (and doesn't do), so you know what to expect.

If your blanket is soaking through, it may be time to retire it. Donate it to Plain Bay Equine for parts and receive 10% off your wash services. Taking care of your blankets will help them last for years, but eventually every waterproof membrane reaches the end of its life.

You know those evenings when the sky turns shades of pink and orange, and for a little while the rest of the world seems to fade away?

There’s something incredibly peaceful about braiding the night away and keeping watch over horses in the quiet hours before a show. Standing in the barn aisle as everything settles down, knowing tomorrow is a big day, is one of my favorite parts of this job.

I had the opportunity over the past two weekends at TIEC and Bouckaert Farm to help keep horses comfortable overnight and make sure they were centerline-ready. Long days, late nights, beautiful sunsets, and plenty of pony snuggles—it's hard to ask for much more than that.

Ever wonder what a blanket lady's house looks like in the middle of washing season? 🤣

Let's just say there are blankets everywhere.

I've got clean blankets waiting to head home, blankets headed to the seamstress, my own blankets ready for summer storage, and plenty of dirty blankets still waiting their turn in the wash line.

The good news? I've finally made some room in my dirty blanket storage and can accept a few more blankets for cleaning!

Send them my way now, and you'll have them cleaned, repaired, and ready to go before blanket season returns. In the meantime, they can live with my blanket collection instead of taking up space in your tack room all summer.

Oh my… this one was a doozy. 😅

Poor rain sheets always come in looking ROUGH. They work hard keeping our horses dry, and our horses definitely put them through the ringer. Between mud, manure, and mystery stains, this one had truly seen better days.

But after a trip through the wash with my favorite Blanket Safe Ultra soap, this sheet was completely transformed! ✨ Mystery stains? Gone. Funky smells? Gone.

Now this hardworking rain sheet gets to live another day and will be bright, clean, and ready for next season! 🐴🌧️

I absolutely love it when fun patterned blankets come through the wash. Life is way too short for boring blankets, buy the fun blankets! Just know that when you send your printed blankets in for servicing, your blanket lady is probably smiling and giggling the rest of the day. 😂

You know how we said we had some fun and exciting upgrades for blankets this year?! 👀✨

Here’s a little sneak peek of what will be coming home with your blankets this season!

We’ve upgraded our labeling system so it’s even easier to see what clean blankets are in each bag—making unpacking and organizing a breeze. Every blanket already goes home with a service tag showing what was done, but now we’re taking it a step further…

Each blanket will also come home with a metal tag showing its weight, plus a little Plain Bay touch, making it easy to tell blankets apart by weight and to show who helps take care of your equine laundry. The design is still in the works, so it may look a little different from what comes home to you.

As always, we’re looking for ways to make blanket season smoother and easier for you. If you have ideas or suggestions on what would be helpful, send them my way! 💬

Taking a very quick break from all the blanket spam to remind y’all… I also braid for the dressage ring + hunt field ✨

And please, for the love of all things holy… do NOT blunt cut your horse’s mane if you ever plan to braid 😅This video shows the right way to thin/shorten a mane so it actually lays nice and braids like a dream. Your horse will be happier, your braids will look better, and your friendly neighborhood braider (hi, it’s me 👋) will be forever grateful.

Do it right… and your braiding fairies might just kiss your feet 🧚‍♀️💁‍♀️
