It is like a desert out there, hasn’t rained since last summer! Humidity is 24%, 75+ degrees and 30 mph winds. That is my supposed barley field they are walking across that never came on.

What software/App do you use to manage and track your herd?

I have used Livestocked, the OSU Excel spreadsheet and iDatabase in the past… gonna give Airtable a try this year. There are things I like about all of them like the indexing in the OSU spreadsheet but it is a pain to use in the field.

This is a super interesting concept. As breeders of goats…especially as seedstock breeders how does this play out in our operations? Is selecting for rapid growth and size in the animal that will go for meat the antithesis to creating doe’s that do all the things Kiko’s are know for including the ability to thrive without additives that steal money from our bottom line?

Love to hear your thoughts on how we protect against falling into the same trap that cattle and other goats breeds have fallen in to?
