The incubators may be off… but the grow outs are keeping me busy!

These Spangled Old English were offered as chicks and nobody showed interest… but I’m glad they didn’t!

This young quad is really starting to show some potential and I’m excited to see how they continue to mature. Who knows, maybe one of these pullets will find herself in a show cage this fall!

Just a few words to describe our feelings about summer on the farm!

I have been nonstop refreshing waterers, setting up extra fans and even installing a new ventilator to help everyone stay comfortable in the 105 heat index. 🥵

And because there’s never a dull moment around here… the new AC unit arrives tomorrow! 🫣

It is midnight and I’m still out in the coops cleaning. Why? Because we got a lot of rain this week and I refuse to let my birds stand in wet bedding.

I’d much rather be in my comfortable bed with my senior cat curled up next to me… but that wouldn’t be fair to them.

Good animal husbandry means working all day, coming home and putting in another six hours because that’s what your animals deserve. It’s the late nights, sore backs, muddy boots and doing the hard things even when nobody sees it.

Because at the end of the day… I will always put my animals first ❤️

We hate rain… that’s all. ☔️🙃

Good morning farm peeps. Happy Memorial Day! 🇺🇸

We are considering letting our white pair of Call Ducks go so we can focus on our grays. They are a year and a half old and the hen is currently laying!

These two come from very nice lines and are breeder quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to put the hen in a show cage.
