“His descendants will be mighty in the land.” Psalm 112:2 🌽

From the land stewarded to the values instilled, few things in life reflect legacy quite like agriculture.

Today, we celebrate the fathers who help shape families, communities, and future generations. 🙏

Happy Father’s Day! 🌟

Weekend Recap… 🇺🇸🇲🇽⚽️🥳

We can still hear the cheering and celebrating from the farm to NAPA, from the office to the fields, and from FL to GA as Team Mexico brought home a World Cup victory! 👏🇲🇽

Truth be told, the celebrating started before the weekend even arrived. 😄

Down in Florida, our CFO, Maria Cavazos, and Director of Human Resources, Belinda Rodriguez, were already in full fan mode last week! ⚽🇲🇽

Up in Georgia, Javier Portales Ramos, from Jaumave, Tamaulipas, Mexico, one of the skilled young men who joined us through the H-2A program, added a few of our favorite hats to his collection. As an avid hat collector, we were honored to see all three of them make the cut! 😅🧢

And across the fields? Let’s just say our crews know how to have fun and get the job done! 😂🎶👏🌽

We are incredibly grateful for the hardworking men and women who come to America through the H-2A Visa Program to help grow, harvest, pack, and deliver the food that feeds our communities.

It’s long days, early mornings, hot fields, and hard work! 💪

Their talents, dedication, sacrifices, and work ethic help keep American agriculture moving forward, and our industry would not be what it is today without them. 🙏

Congratulations, Team Mexico! 🇲🇽❤️

Meet Dori-Ann. 👋🚜😄

Skilled equipment operator. Agriculture enthusiast. World traveler.

Hometown: Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦

Work Location: Wherever her skills can help feed people. 🚜

Agriculture is truly one fascinating industry!

People with different backgrounds, experiences, talents, and stories all putting in hard work toward the same purpose: feeding people.

From the farmers who grow it, to the crews who harvest it, to the innovators who improve it, to the people who fight to protect it, and ultimately to the people who gather around the table to enjoy it… agriculture is one of the greatest team efforts on earth. 🍽️🤝

Farmers. Researchers. Equipment operators. Mechanics. Truck drivers. Inspectors. Grocers. Retailers. Chefs. Families.

So many people, each playing a different role, all connected by a shared purpose… to put food on the table! 🍽️

It’s pretty easy in the hustle of today’s culture to forget just how incredible it all really is…

Tiny seeds that become bountiful harvests. Harvests that become meals.

And behind it all, an incredible chain of people using their unique talents to make it all possible. 🥹🙌

Let’s take a little trip back in time… 📽️💭

It’s South Florida, sometime before the late 1980s. Harvest season is in full swing, the sweet corn is moving, and the sun is doing what South Florida sunshine does best. 🌞🌽

Back then, harvest crews spent long days riding harvest equipment with very little protection from the heat. 🥵 It was simply just part of the job.

But a few innovators thought… there has to be a better way. 🧐💡

Introducing the corn harvester known as the “mule train.”

Built in the late 1980s by Jim Hooks Welding, Inc. in Belle Glade, Florida, and designed by the late Jim Hooks and Roger Hatton, it became the first of its kind to place every worker under shade, helping make harvest days cooler and more comfortable for the crews onboard.

What started as one innovative idea helped influence sweet corn harvesting for decades to come.

Today, crews across the industry continue to benefit, and that same spirit lives on: recognize a challenge, pursue innovation, and have the determination to make it happen. 💪

And that’s one of our favorite pieces of sweet corn history! 😄
