Looks like I am going to be scaling back for a while till I can get a new pasture fenced. The whole herd at the lease pasture is gone this weekend.

Had to do a little fencing in the dark tonight. It's amazing how they find openings in the old fence at the oddest times. Getting ready to wether a few buck kids and start training 2-3 kids for shows this fall.

In my ever increasing chase to improve my farming operation, I decided to do some number crunching. What was a 188% kidding rate was drastically overshadowed by a nearly 50% mortality rate, all because of avaian predators. Like I always say, if farming was easy, everybody would do it.

3 kids born today, gotta move them and the does tomorrow so the Eagle doesn;t get them. Yes, I said Eagle!! We discovered that another goat farm in our area lost a few kds also and that one of the owners actually saw an Eagle swoop down and sn**ch a young kid!! How do you Eagle Proof a pasture?

Still waiting on the last few kids to hit the ground, thankfully I am home for the next few weeks.

Well, it looked like a good year was in store for the Square C until I lost 7 of my 12 kids to coyotes, Don't know how long I can handle these kinda losses. Had to scramble and move does and kids to my other pasture to try to protect the ones I had left. Still got a few more does ready to kid, lets hope for the best.

4 new kids on the ground as of this morning. 2 paints and 2 solid reds. Expecting more today and over the next few days.

After some close figuring, I was off by a couple of wekks on the kidding dates. Looks like about middle of next week they should start hitting the ground.

Fortunately no kids born while I was on vacation. Still waiting though, should be any day now.

I finally got the new feeder put in the catch pen and all the ladies in there also. Looks like 5 of the girls are ready to start kidding any day. Hoping everything goes well while I am gone to the F-100 show this week.
