"The Store on the Bend"
By Grove’s End Supply Co.

Back when roads were more dust than pavement and news traveled slower than the creek thawing in spring, every town had its heartbeat: the general store.

At the edge of one such town — a place folks called Hollow Bend — sat a crooked little building with creaky floorboards and a rusted bell above the door that clanged when the wind caught it just right. Inside, it smelled like cedar, molasses, and pipe to***co. Old Mr. Dobbs ran the place. He knew every name, every family, every preference from shoe size to candy choice.

Need a sack of flour? He had it. A spool of thread? A jar of pickled okra? A new bridle? You bet. But more than the goods, people came for the connection. Children brought coins and left with penny candy and stories. Farmers traded eggs for coffee beans. Neighbors caught up over barrels of nails and burlap sacks.

That store did more than sell — it stitched the community together, one shared conversation at a time.

Fast forward to today — different time, different tools, but the same heart.

At Grove’s End Supply Co., we believe in the legacy of the general store. We’re keeping that old spirit alive — connecting people with the products they need and the goodies they want — just in a modern way.

The world has changed. Some folks don’t have a car. Some can’t get down off the porch as easy as they used to. And in rural places, the nearest store might be two towns over. So we meet you where you are — with online shopping, home delivery, and curated picks that are made with purpose.

Whenever possible, we support small businesses and local makers. But when local just isn’t an option, we’re here — connecting folks to groceries, home goods, medicine, and more — just like Mr. Dobbs did, only now through the tap of a screen.

We're the modern-day general store — digital but deeply human.

Supporting us is simple:

Like and share our content to help us grow.

And if you find something you love, click through one of our affiliate links when you buy. It helps keep the store running.

We thank you kindly and truly hope to be here for you — now and moving forward — as a trustworthy resource. Because while the front porch may be digital now, the feeling? It's the same as it’s always been.

🦴 Why Bone Broth Deserves a Spot in Your Diet 🥣

Around here, we don’t let much go to waste — especially when it comes to something as nourishing as bone broth. When we process our own chickens or pick up bones from a trusted local meat processor, I love to simmer up a big batch. It's packed with collagen, minerals, and gut-healing goodness — real, traditional nourishment like Grandma used to make.

✨ Bone broth supports:

Joint health thanks to natural collagen & gelatin

Digestive wellness with amino acids like glycine & glutamine

Healthy skin, hair & nails (hello, glow!)

Immune support from all that slow-simmered marrow magic

That said... making it takes time, freezer space, and planning (and I don't always have a jar thawed when dinner rolls around 😅). So when I’m in a pinch or just want to mix up the flavor, I’ll grab a store-bought one — but not just any brand.

Truth is, not all bone broths are created equal. A lot of what’s out there is watered down or full of junk ingredients pretending to be “healthy.” Big food corporations? We’re not about that life. We believe in keeping it small, artisan, and American-farmer proud — just like we do on our own homestead.

One brand we do trust: Kettle & Fire. Their bone broth is slow-simmered, organic, and made the right way — no shortcuts, no junk. It’s one of the few I feel good about buying when we’re low on our homemade stash.

🧡 Whether you’re making it yourself or grabbing a carton from a clean, trusted brand — bone broth is an easy, time-tested way to nourish yourself and your family.

Got questions about making it yourself or which brands are actually worth the shelf space? Drop them below!👇

Today is World Falconry Day! Falconry is the sport of hunting with a bird of prey in its natural state. It has been practiced for over 4,000 years, earning it the title of an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity from the UNESCO. Falconry has important historical significance in many cultures, famously in Mongolia. The Mongol Empire utilized falconry with Golden Eagles to supplement food for families and their army during conquests. Many civilizations regarded falconry as a social gauge. What kind of bird an individual could hunt with was indicative of their social status. For instance, western Europeans that hunted with a Gyrfalcon, the largest of falcons, were of the highest status; these raptors were the birds of kings. The smallest of falcons were for peasantry, who would hunt with a Kestrel. Merlins were considered a lady’s bird, Mary Queen of Scots was known for her fondness of hunting with her Merlin.

In the photo, you can see ARC's own "lady's bird" named Sarka, a Merlin. Over the next couple weeks, we'll talk more about falconry!

Raising sourdough starter is like having another pet around... they need fed and watered. They need good growing conditions. And of course, my Sourdough has extra steps because I brew JUN Kombucha to feed it (and to drink 😉). I started a Kombucha Sourdough culture from scratch and its combined here with my 150yr old San Francisco Sourdough starter. It's a one of a kind blend.... so good🤤
