Well, we survived another firework holiday in Palm Bay 🤪. Only 6+ hrs of explosions and flashes this year. This video was taken before dark and before the real mortars started launching but you get a small idea of what it's like. The $120 we spent on calming medicinal treats did not work so next year we have no choice but to sedate. The horses, cows and goats did not stop running and had to be hosed off every chance they'd circle past as they were overheating. We tried classical music and locking in stalls but that did not fly with the herd. To all of you who stayed home to care for your animals we see you. Our poor resident owl Ophelia was disoriented and crashing into trees and we haven't seen her since last night. The 4th of July and NYE hit different when you run an animal rescue. To our fellow farmers we hope your herds made it thru safely. Thank you Ginger, Roxanne, Travis and Jessica for enduring the heat and bugs to stand watch with us most of the night.
