What's in your dogs diet?
Ya know, growing up I always recall us having a dog, if not 2 or more. And as I became an adult (numerically at least) and was out on my own, I went from Timber Wolf (Sasha) to German Shepard, 1 (Clarabelle), and 2 (Rika), and now a Malinois (Dusty- he earns that name)... but over the years, ive noticed more and more, their diet becoming worse in quality and as expensive as a grocery bill for a family of 4.
As for quality, the kibble most buy... Purina (once a top brand, now what I'd call the junk food of the dog world), Iams, Eukanuba, Blue Buffalo... all of them lack over time as the kibble is over cooked to allow long term storage. The trade off? Years and... quality years at that, knocked off your dogs life.
Having just lost our German Shepard, Rika, at the age of 13+ years, and hearing others stories of their purse rats, fur missiles and neighborhood alarm systems suffering from ailments that one usually only associates with humans and... at an alarming rate. You'd almost think that canines weren't meant to survive the Darwin chain.
But trust me... it's what we feed them. I mean I'll go slaughter a board a week for them if that works, but who's got the time? So... this little meme was put up to help anyone thinking of trying something new for their dog/s. The diet we have Dusty on works... he's a 9yo PUPPY! he won't go of any other cause but a massive. Oronary.. I'm sure... and im fine that way. Even our Sheppard who suffered from cancer, livened up tremendously, until the morning of her passing, after being placed on an improved diet. It bought her an extra few years, I have no doubt of that.
Maybe you've a different diet... and if so, share it so everyone can benefit by adding longevity to their pets lives.
