Our worms have been hard at work! We collected 10 gal of ✨BLACK GOLD✨🖤 today! These worm castings will be used to nourish our freshly transplanted crops and to make compost tea to ensure healthy microbial life all over the farm!

Flipping compost is steamy work!

One of our goals for this season was to become self-sufficient compost producers, and we're well on our way! We invested in our education by taking multiple compost classes over the summer, and our hard work is already paying off!

This is a thermophilic, aerated pile that millions of microorganisms are working hard to break everything down into a nutrient-rich compost!

Next week we will be applying our finished compost to our vegetable beds and began planting for this season!

June 1st means the start of cover crop planting at the farm!
We use a mix of different plants to maximize the benefits!

Sunn H**p for nematode suppression
Sorghum-Sudan grass for biomass
Iron clay Cowpea for nitrogen fixation

Pretty soon these beds will be unrecognizable with plants growing taller than us!
