How to Store Your Sourdough + a Little Freezer Tip You May Not Know😊

First things first, how should you store your fresh sourdough?

For the first few days, I recommend keeping your loaf at room temperature in a bread box, beeswax bread bag, the bag it comes in, or wrapped in a clean tea towel on the counter. Avoid the refrigerator because it can actually make bread go stale faster!

If you still have bread left around day 3, that’s a great time to freeze it. Slice your loaf, wrap each individual slice in plastic wrap, and place them together in a freezer bag. Your bread can stay frozen for up to 6 months, and you can simply pull out individual slices whenever you need them.

🍞 Want to freeze a whole loaf?

If your loaf hasn’t been cut, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it inside a freezer bag. When you’re ready to serve it, take it out the night before and let it thaw on the counter overnight. The next day, quickly run the entire loaf under water. Yes, get the whole thing wet! Place it on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 15 to 20 minutes. It will refresh beautifully with a warm center and crisp crust. You can slice it right away and serve it warm!

✨ And here’s something really interesting about freezing your sourdough!

Long fermented sourdough already has some wonderful qualities. The fermentation process can make it easier for some people to digest, improve the availability of certain nutrients, and may result in a lower blood sugar response than some conventional breads.

When bread is cooled and frozen, some of its starch can become resistant starch. Resistant starch behaves more like fiber because it isn’t digested as quickly. It can help feed beneficial bacteria in your gut and may also help create a steadier blood sugar response.

So freezing your leftover sourdough isn’t just a great way to keep it fresh and prevent waste. You may be giving your bread a little extra nutritional perk, too!

Good bread deserves to be enjoyed down to the very last slice. 🍞

Have you been thinking about learning how to make sourdough, but you just don’t know where to start? 🤍

I remember how overwhelming it can feel in the beginning, which is exactly why I created The Blessed Bread Method.

It’s not just an online course with step-by-step lessons. It’s a community where you can ask questions, share your progress, celebrate your first loaf, and get help when something just isn’t clicking. 🍞

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. We’re learning together, one loaf at a time. 🤍

A few Blessed Bread updates! 🍞🤍

The Fall Menu is officially here and ordering is OPEN through tomorrow, September 1 at 5 PM! This week’s pickups are Friday & Saturday morning in Palm Coast and Friday evening in Orange Park. If you need to pick up outside this timeframe, please let me know!

I also wanted to share that after much thought, I’ve decided to discontinue my Ormond Beach drop-off as I simplify my pickup schedule and create a rhythm that works best for my family and the bakery. To my Ormond customers**, THANK YOU.** 🥹🤍 Your support has meant so much to me, and I truly hope this isn’t goodbye! You’re always welcome to order for Palm Coast pickup whenever it works for you.

One more important note: there will be NO pickups September 11–12, so be sure to stock up this week! Sourdough freezes beautifully, either sliced or as a whole loaf. 🍞

I’ll be back with pickups September 18! Thank you for continuing to support The Blessed Bread Co. I’m so grateful for each of you. 🤍

The more I make sourdough, the more I realize how much it reminds me of life. 🤍

There’s waiting. There’s stretching. There are seasons when it looks like nothing is happening at all… and then, with time, you begin to see the fruit of the process.

Life can feel that way too. We don’t always understand the waiting or see what God is doing behind the scenes, but that doesn’t mean He isn’t working. Sometimes the seasons that stretch us the most are the very ones He uses to grow something beautiful in us. So keep trusting the process, and more importantly, keep trusting the One who is with you through it. 🤍

🍂 Fall Menu is officially here! Orders close Tuesday at 5 PM for pickup Friday, September 4 & Saturday, September 5. I can’t wait to bake for you!🫶🏽

Somewhere along the way, making bread became so much more than making bread.

It's creating, serving, sharing, and getting to do something I genuinely LOVE. What a gift from God.🥹💖

Hi Friends! I wanted to share a little bit about The Blessed Bread Method:)

The Blessed Bread Method is about so much more than learning how to make a loaf of sourdough. 🤍
Yes, I walk you step-by-step through the entire process so you don’t have to piece together a hundred different videos or wonder if you’re doing it right. This is done through a series of short modules that are easy to follow along with.
One of my favorite parts is the COMMUNITY that comes with it. It’s a place to ask questions, share your wins (and your “what happened to my dough?!” moments 😂), get encouragement, troubleshoot together, and learn alongside other people who are figuring it out too.
You’re not just handed a recipe and sent on your way😅 You have a place to come back to, people cheering you on, and me there to help you along the way. My heart is for you to feel confident making real, homemade sourdough for the people you love. 🥖🤍

☀️ The Blessed Bread Method Summer Sale ends August 31!
