I love sweet potatoes. This time, my husband's grandson was here, and he is allergic to nuts. So I made the candied yams my usual way, but without nuts, and added fresh cranberries on top for the last cooking. I brushed the brown sugar glaze over them, and they were wonderful, just tart enough without being too sour.

This is the pork stew that I have been making recently. Let me explain a little about its backstory. I was diagnosed with diabetes about 3 years ago. I am determined not to continue to eat things that might work against my health. I knew that for some, this would not work, but I was determined to try. I lost 35+ pounds and continue to work on that last 5 pounds; many will understand this. I realized that carbs were not really my friend, but vegetables were, this recipe grew out of my commitment to eat smarter. We generally eat black beans or homemade black lentils with this stew for the fiber, but they taste great together as well. See stew recipe below in the comments.
